Newly engaged Bachelor In Paradise couple Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt may be head over heels in love with each other, but they are in no rush to get married. The couple got engaged in the season 7 finale after spending most of Paradise at each other's sides. They were one of the most popular couples of the season.
Joe, known by fans as "Grocery Store Joe," and Serena met on the first day of Bachelor In Paradise. Joe was interested in meeting Serena. The two quickly became inseparable, spending their days snuggling on the day beds and kissing in the pool. They had an easy, happy relationship, and they were both excited to profess their love for each other. Their only angst came from the arrival of Joe's ex-girlfriend, Kendall Long. The couple split up about a year and a half ago due to their inability to compromise on where they would live. Much to Serena's relief, Joe had no doubts about who he wanted to be with, and he made it clear to Kendall that their relationship was over. Serena and Joe's romance only became stronger, resulting in Joe proposing to her on their last day in Mexico. With an enthusiastic yes, Serena accepted the proposal, and the couple left Paradise engaged and ecstatic.
Joe and Serena opened up about their future plans on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast with Becca Kufrin and Tia Booth. Serena revealed that although she knew that he was the one, she did not expect Joe to propose to her, and she was pleasantly surprised. Because they got engaged after such a short period of time, they will now slow things down and savor life together after being on Bachelor In Paradise. When Becca asked how long they anticipate their engagement to be, Joe said, "Mid-range on the longer side." Serena agreed that they are in no hurry to get married. She said, "We're not rushing down the aisle. But we definitely feel confident in the fact that we want to be together...It'll be nice to just take a breath, date, live together and then marriage will come down the line."
Bachelor In Paradise contestant Joe agreed and revealed that the couple will be splitting time between his home in Chicago and Serena's hometown of Toronto, but "that's going to be our next big step together, moving in together." He said that they will ultimately "possibly try New York together." Serena continued by saying, "It's kind of just whatever makes sense for us in a couple months both personally and professionally. So we both love New York. It's kind of a bit of a neutral space where we're both making sacrifices to be there...We don't have kids at the moment, so it's pretty easy and with our lifestyles to travel back and forth." She added that they might buy a home in both Chicago and Toronto, and "do 50/50," saying their families would "probably like that option." Since choosing a place to live was such a point of contention in Joe's relationship with Kendall, Serena and Joe will not make this decision lightly.
Wherever Joe and Serena live, they will hopefully continue to be as comfortable and happy with each other in the future as they are today. Bachelor In Paradise has resulted in many successful marriages, and fans hope that eventually these two will exchange vows. For now, they will continue to enjoy each other's company and make life a paradise.
