Over several seasons, Bachelor in Paradise has boasted many engagements, though not all of them were successful. As the Bachelor in Paradise season 7 cast inches closer to proposals, it’s worth taking time to look back at all the previous couples who have gotten engaged on the show.

Many fans prefer BIP over the franchise’s core shows, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, because the success rate is much higher. When the singles have a chance to mix and mingle with each other on the beach, they have a better chance of finding love than 30-or-so contestants competing for one lead.

There have been 11 engagements on Bachelor in Paradise, but just because a couple gets engaged doesn’t mean they stay together. Few BIP engagements lasted more than a couple of months because life is much different outside of Paradise. Those 11 couples discovered that staying together is easier said than done.

Hannah Godwin & Dylan Barbour

Dylan Barbour proposes to Hannah Godwin in Bachelor in Paradise

This Bachelor in Paradise couple is now planning their wedding, but it all started in season 6. When Dylan first arrived at the beach, he said he was only interested in Hannah, so it was fairytale-perfect when she also seemed interested in him. Though Blake Horstmann tried to pursue Hannah, she continued to gravitate towards Dylan. The two got engaged at the end of the season and are still together.

Demi Burnett & Kristian Haggerty

When fan favorite Demi arrived on the beach in season 6, she was the only bisexual cast member. So, to give Demi more dating options, producers brought in Kristian, a woman Demi knew from home. The two couldn’t deny the chemistry between them, and at the end of the season, Demi proposed to Kristian. Unfortunately, their engagement only lasted a couple of months, and the couple is no longer together — hence Demi’s return to Paradise.

Chris Bukowski & Katie Morton

Katie reportedly felt manipulated by producers during her relationship, and there was a lot of drama between her and Chris. However, at the end of season 6, viewers witnessed a touching engagement between the two of them. Sadly, their engagement wasn’t the start of a happy ending. The couple was already having problems when filming After the Final Rose, and they broke up for good soon after it aired.

Jordan Kimball & Jenna Cooper

On BIP season 5, Jordan and Jenna seemed like a perfectly matched couple, and their engagement during the finale was praised by fans. However, Jenna became the subject of a malicious attempt to undermine her relationship and reputation. After a series of leaked texts, Jordan and fans were convinced Jenna was cheating and the couple broke up. It wasn’t until later, when the truth came out that the texts were fake, that Jenna was finally vindicated. However, she and Jordan never got back together, and both are engaged to other people.

Chris Randone & Krystal Nielson

Chris and Krystal both went on BIP season 5 for redemption, as they each got a villain edit on their respective seasons of The Bachelorette and The Bachelor. When the two of them began forming a connection, fans were pleasantly surprised to see the different sides of Chris and Krystal. The couple was engaged at the end of the season and got married the following year. However, their marriage didn’t last long, and they are now divorced.

Taylor Nolan & Derek Peth

On BIP season 4, Taylor and Derek’s engagement was a little unusual. The couple deepened their connection all season long, and in the last episode, decided to leave Paradise together. It wasn’t until later, on After the Final Rose, that Derek proposed to Taylor. The two dated for about a year before deciding to end their relationship. Based on the hateful tweets from Taylor’s past that recently emerged, Derek may have dodged a bullet.

Amanda Stanton & Josh Murray

Despite some major red flags that were brought to her attention, single mom Amanda said yes to Josh’s proposal on BIP season 3. Josh isn’t well liked in Bachelor Nation, and even his ex-fiancé Andie Dorfman has nothing nice to say about him. Amanda ended things with Josh a few months after their engagement, though it was reportedly a contentious breakup.

Lace Morris & Grant Kemp

There was oodles of chemistry between Lace and Grant on BIP season 3, and the couple even got matching tattoos on the show. Though their engagement was heartfelt, many fans were doubtful about their longevity. It only took a couple of months before Lace and Grant announced their breakup, and few Bachelor Nation fans were surprised.

Carly Waddell & Evan Bass

Though Carly and Evan ended up in a successful relationship, the start of their journey was very rocky. Initially, Carly wasn’t interested in Evan, but after he demonstrated true devotion to her, Carly opened her heart to him. The two got engaged and were married the next summer. The couple had two children and many happy years, but eventually, Carly and Evan called it quits, though they reportedly haven’t closed the door on their marriage just yet.

Jade Roper & Tanner Tolbert

Tanner Tolbert Jade Roper Bachelor in Paradise

Jade and Tanner met on Bachelor in Paradise season 2 and it was pretty much love at first sight. Their connection continued to deepen throughout the season and was capped off with one of the most romantic engagements on the show. The couple has stuck together ever since and have welcomed three children since their time in Paradise.

Lacy Faddoul & Marcus Grodd

Lacy Faddoul Marcus Grodd Bachelor in Paradise

On season 1 of Bachelor in Paradise, Lacy and Marcus developed chemistry early on and were engaged in the final episode. The two eventually made it to the altar on the second season of BIP, but their relationship wasn’t built to last. Lacy and Marcus announced their breakup just a year after their marriage, and both have since moved on.

It’s no surprise that there are more successful proposals from Bachelor in Paradise than from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Eleven couples got engaged on the show, though not all of them could stand the test of time. Perhaps there will be more engagements during season 7 to add to the list.
