Former lead of The Bachelor Matt James just put any lingering questions about the status of his and Rachael Kirkconnel’s relationship to bed by going Instagram official with his final rose recipient. Matt was hesitant to confirm his relationship with Rachael after all the drama and controversy they went through. But now it seems he’s in a comfortable place with her and is ready to share with his followers that things with the Georgia native are going great.
Matt and Rachael have undergone a series of ups and downs during their time together that led to them breaking up twice before getting to where they are today. During their second reconciliation, Rachael finally put her foot down and issued Matt an ultimatum to commit or break up for a third, and final, time. That seemed to be just what Matt needed and now the couple has been getting serious and has even discussed moving in together.
In his most recent Instagram post, Matt shared a photo taken while doing charity work. Matt took time to teach a course on financial literacy to underserved communities that don’t always have access to education about those kinds of crucial topics. Rachael has been helping Matt with his altruistic exploits and was included in the photo. Matt’s charity work has always been extremely important to him, so including Rachael in that activity and sharing it on social media seems like a big deal.
Matt’s decision to give Rachael another chance did not go unnoticed, and many fans expressed how happy they were to see the couple back together. Even Emmanuel Acho, who hosted the After the Final Rose special during The Bachelor finale, said “proud of y’all” in the comments. Acho tried to reconcile the couple on After the Final Rose, though clearly, the hurt was still too raw for Matt, and he wasn’t ready yet to patch things up with Rachael.
Sharing your relationship on social media is a big deal within Bachelor Nation. Because the stars (and especially franchise leads) can have such massive followings on Instagram, posting content with the person they’re dating is announcing to the world that the relationship is getting serious. Fans were unsure of where former Bachelorette Clare Crawley was in her relationship with Dale Moss, but when the couple went Instagram official, it confirmed they were back together.
Things weren’t looking good for Matt and Rachael at the end of The Bachelor, and many fans were doubtful that the couple could ever make it work. However, Matt’s recent Instagram post proves that he’s invested in his relationship with Rachael and feels no need to hide it anymore. Including Rachael in his passions is also a big deal, and is a sign that Matt is ready to make space for Rachael in his life and take their relationship to the next level.
