The Bachelor season 25 has finally come to an end, and lead Matt James is seeking a therapist to unpack everything that he went through during his season and after the show ended. This has not been an easy season for Bachelor Nation to watch. From ruthless bullying to egotistic contestants to racism accusations to the departure of long-time host Chris Harrison, season 25 has surely been a "worst-case scenario" for the series. Alas, this season is now over, and the franchise will have the chance to redeem itself with the upcoming The Bachelorette seasons featuring Katie Thurston and Michelle Young as respective leads of their own installments.
Unfortunately, even a bright outlook for the future of the series can't erase the scrutiny that The Bachelor has been under as of late. Furthermore, regardless of the TV show, it is understandable how tough of a time this has been for Matt James, who thought he had fallen in love with Rachael Kirkconnell on the show only to later find out about all of these problematic actions she had taken in recent years. For a season that was meant to be a landmark for diverse casting, things could not have gone worse for all of the individuals featured on-screen and working behind the scenes.
After what was absolutely an emotional roller-coaster of a The Bachelor finale, Matt James is now resorting to his signature sense of humor in order to cope with everything that's going on. As seen below, Matt tweeted out the following message a day after the After The Final Rose conclusion of season 25: "Google therapist near me." While this is likely meant to be a joke (after all, Matt loves to troll himself and the fans on social media!), the fans can't help but feel like there's a bit, or even a lot, of truth to this particular joke.
Unlike most of the other leads on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Matt James wasn't a part of Bachelor Nation prior to getting chosen for season 25. He didn't have any TV experience, nor had he ever been subjected to this process of dating multiple women at the same time and eliminating them one by one throughout the season. It is certainly a bizarre experience for a newcomer to walk into, but Matt still did his best to show grace and compassion on the show. With that said, there is no doubt that this was a rough journey for Matt, particularly when all of those awful things about Rachael Kirkconnell began to come to the surface.
The fans of The Bachelor surely hope that Matt James gets whatever professional help that he needs to get through this tumultuous time. While one can interpret his tweet as just a lighthearted joke, a case can be made that he actually would benefit from psychological counseling at a time like this.
