Matt James may have sent Katie Thurston home after he realized his lack of feelings for her, but that doesn't mean he doesn't still support her. In a new interview, Matt supported the recent rumor of Katie being the next Bachelorette. Following the filming of the Women's Tell All, Reality Steve revealed that Katie was announced as the next Bachelorette lead for the upcoming season. Katie was left in shock when she was sent home on last week's episode of The Bachelor during her first one-on-one date with Matt, allowing her to be a potential upcoming lead.

Katie Thurston is not afraid to be who she is. When she arrived on premiere night, she surprised Matt with a toy from home. Katie soon became a fan favorite as she was one of the only woman to stand up to the house bullies such as Victoria "Queen" Larson. As she continued to stand up for what she believed in, never fearing what people may think of her, fans began to petition for her to be the next Bachelorette. They want Katie to be the next lead so much so one fan actually created a fake season preview starring Katie.

Fans aren't the only ones that want Katie to be the next Bachelorette. Matt recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, during which he discussed the hot topics regarding his season of The Bachelor, including the rumors of Katie potentially being the next lead. Although things did not work out for Matt and Katie, he had nothing but kind words to say about her. Matt described her as "bold" and "courageous" as she does not fear standing up for what she believes in. These are all of the traits that Matt believes the next Bachelorette lead should have.

As Matt tunes into to the show each week, he recently watched Katie's falling out with Serena Chew, an encounter that he lacked details of during filming. Katie and Serena lashed out on each other during a heated argument after Serena accused Katie of stirring up drama. Katie later confronted Serena when she walked in on Serena talking to the other ladies about their private conversation. Matt assured fans that watching this encounter back, it in no way affected the way Matt views Katie as a person nor how "incredible" she is. Matt also reiterated that Katie, like all of the women, was "there for a reason." Although Matt ultimately did not have feelings for Katie, from the start her main focus was on her relationship with him and being a good person rather than the drama circulating around her.

It is still unknown whether Katie will in fact follow in Clare Crawley and Tayisha Adams' footsteps as the next Bachelorette. While Reality Steve reported that the news was announced at the filming for the Women's Tell All, Bachelor host Chris Harrison denied the reports while Katie acted shocked by the news on social media. Although fans are left wondering if it is in fact true, at least Katie knows she has Matt's support if she does take on the role as the next Bachelorette.
