Fans think The Bachelor's Madison Prewett made her own fan account after a suspicious comment appeared on her picture following the first episode of the season. While Prewett shined on the season premiere and already has a strong following among Bachelor Nation, some fans think the positivity the star is receiving might be coming from herself.
Poised as a sporty and sweet Southern girl, Prewett is currently a contestant on Peter Weber's season of The Bachelor. Her intro package included plenty of information about her days playing basketball, as well as her close relationship with her father, who also happens to be her coach. Her sweet smile and seemingly genuine personality immediately stood out to viewers - and apparently to Weber himself. On the January 6 premiere, Prewett received the first one-on-one date of the season - a surefire sign that she's going to be a major frontrunner for the rest of Weber's journey. If receiving the first date wasn't enough to cement Prewett's popularity, the one-on-one also included an entire day of bonding with Weber's family. Though she made a splash in her first appearance of the season, fans are now questioning just how genuine this Alabama native really is.
According to ET, an interesting comment appeared on a recent photo Prewett posted to Instagram. After posting a screenshot of her first date with Weber, Prewett appeared in her own comments saying, "Beautiful date Madi. You are so genuine and real." The comment came from @madiprew, the tag of Prewett's personal account, leading fans to believe that she created her own fan account and forgot to switch over before posting a comment. Another Bachelor fan account responded to the comment, saying "We, too, believe we are genuine and real. Happy to provide tutorials on toggling between your personal and fan accounts." Check out the original post and photos below:
After the initial embarrassment of Prewett commenting praise on her own account, the comment was quickly deleted and a friend of Prewett's took responsibility. "Oops. Thought I wrote that comment about being real & genuine from my account but was logged into Madi's from when she got back from filming," the friend wrote. "Don't hate me @madiprew." Prewett responded to her pal with plenty of forgiveness, writing, "Hahahaha you're good. It happens love youuuu."
Does it really just "happen" though? Filming for The Bachelor ending around two months ago, are we really supposed to believe that this friend was logged into Prewett's account for two whole months without noticing? The comment feels like a poor attempt to cover up her mistake, rather than a legitimate excuse that would explain the odd, self-congratulatory comment. It's much more likely that Prewett does run a fan account for herself, which is an understandable move when heading into the vicious world of Bachelor Nation. While it's embarrassing and a little strange, it's not the end of the world. Prewett is only one episode in. If she can manage to avoid controversy for the rest of the season, she has a good chance of emerging as a thriving star within the franchise.
The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8pm EST on ABC.
