Did the women miss out on the four men who were sent home on the premiere of The Bachelor spin-off Listen to Your Heart? We didn't see much from them so it's tough to tell.

The first episode of the new Bachelor show gripped a fanbase thirsty for entertainment. The premise is not all that different from a season of the now-defunct Bachelor Pad or Bachelor in Paradise, where men and women couple up and those without romantic partners get the boot. The challenge with Listen to Your Heart is that all the contestants are relative unknowns to Bachelor Nation. While they are all musicians, none of them have hit it big time enough yet to be household names. In the first episode, fans became acquainted with certain personalities, like Jamie and Trevor, Rudi and Matt, while snubbing many others from the edit entirely. It was hard to have an emotional investment in the rose ceremony because we had barely seen anything at all from at least half of the couples. When Bekah handed Danny her rose, former Bachelorette contestant Tyler Cameron echoed the sentiments of Bachelor Nation by tweeting, "Who the hell is Danny?"

Likewise, there was little investment in the four men ultimately sent home. Two of them, Jack and Russell, were sliced out of the edit entirely. We genuinely had not seen their faces until we saw their sad roseless mugs at the end of the episode. Then there was Jack, who shared a brief romantic moment with Julia and was referred to as a "jacked Mr. Clean" by one of the other guys when he stepped into the mansion, but that was about it.

Michael Todd was the only guy we had heard a decent amount from of the four men eliminated. He had made a few unsettling comments, remarking "We’ll have to see how her voice sounds" when talking with another man about his potential chemistry with Savannah. His attempt to receive a kiss from her later did not go so well. He was seen with Rudi later in the episode after Rudi broke it off with Matt, but there didn't appear to be any romantic potential there either.

From what we saw, it's a good thing Michael Todd only lasted one episode. But there were a few other guys who probably shouldn't have been chosen. Trevor, especially, looks like he's going to be a controversial figure when his ex returns next episode. It wouldn't be a Bachelor spin-off if all the guys who made it past the first round were stand-up men ready for marriage.
