Lauren Bushnell, finalist of The Bachelor season 20, is clapping back at those who have something negative to say about her post-pregnancy body. The 31-year-old and her husband, 37-year-old country music artist Chris Lane, welcomed their son Dutton Walker Lane into the world on June 8, 2021. Becoming a mother was something Lauren said she was really looking forward to. As she and Chris navigate this highly-anticipated chapter in life, Lauren is exposing haters trying to put a damper on her happiness.

Chris and Lauren announced their pregnancy in December 2020 with a sweet Instagram video. It featured the sonogram as Chris' song "Big Plans," which he wrote just for his wife, played in the background. At that time, Lauren shared how she "always wanted to be a mom." Ever since the birth of Dutton, the social media accounts of these first-time parents have been chock-full of sweet family photos. The two met in 2015 at a radio event, but they didn't become romantically involved until 2018, about a year after Lauren's engagement to The Bachelor Ben Higgins ended.

Being in a high-profile relationship comes with its share of daily criticism, which Lauren is typically able to brush off. However, one such message pushed her too far. In response to an Instagram DM that read, "She is so damn sickly looking I can hardly stand it," Lauren issued a lengthy statement. She said, "I don't feel like I have to defend myself but sometimes want to esp when it's already an insecurity and someone hits on it." Lauren explained that it's extremely difficult for her to gain weight. In fact, the only time the scale went up in the past decade was during her pregnancy. "Otherwise it's just how my body wants to be," Lauren said. "I wish I had my pregnancy booty but I don't and apparently some people on the internet don't like that." She went on to share how she actually eats more than her husband.

In response to a fan asking how she handles body image issues, Lauren elaborated on the impact social media has had on her well-being. "Reading messages ab my weight was making me believe there was something wrong with me," she said. "I convinced myself I was sick. I've spent so much money on lab work and micronutrient tests bc I was convinced that surely I was sick or there was something wrong." According to results of the tests, Lauren's body is just a little low on Vitamin D. Everything else is perfectly healthy. "Let's not comment on women's bodies pp bc there is so much to it and also a tremendous amount of emotion that comes along with it all."

Hopefully, Lauren's explanation and clapback will alleviate some of the hurtful messages this former The Bachelor star receives moving forward. If not, hopefully she's able to ignore them. Sadly, getting bombarded with hate on social media comes with the territory of being in the public spotlight. But while some stars are criticized for undergoing plastic surgery and other changes that they willingly chose to make to their bodies, Lauren is receiving criticism for something she cannot physically control.
