The Bachelor season 27 contestant Kat Izzo had an immediate connection with Zach Shallcross, so she was completely blindsided when he eliminated her in Budapest right before hometowns. Kat and Zach shared a romantic one-on-one date in the Bahamas, but their relationship stalled when Zach tested positive for COVID-19. In Budapest, Zach and the women had a group date with a mentalist, and Kat admitted that she had felt doubts about him meeting her family. However, she was willing to push through it because she wanted to be with Zach in the end. But unfortunately, Zach eliminated her at the rose ceremony.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Kat confessed that she felt blindsided by The Bachelor's Zach Shallcross saying goodbye to her. She admitted that her emotions in that moment "were feeling off," but she did not think that it was going to be "something that overtook our relationship." She explained, "We had one hard week, but we also had five good weeks." Kat shared that she thought that she would be able to bring Zach to meet her family, and show them that "'sometimes we’re not perfect. Sometimes we struggle. But he’s wanting to love them through that.' I was hoping that was going to be him. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. But it’s OK."

The Bachelor's Kat Izzo Thought Zach Shallcross Was The One

Kat went on to say that she thought that Zach was "The One" during their Bachelor journey. She said that he has characteristics that she would pursue even outside the show such as "his goofiness and his presence," which she was "really was so drawn to." She said that even up until the point that she left, she felt that he was "supposed to be my husband," and she would never have given up on it. Kat added, "I just need a man to love me through all layers and be present in every moment." She wants to have "the fun and silly goofy times," but also "the hard and serious times." Kat is looking for someone to "do life with me without any regret."

Kat proved that she was willing to go the distance in order to win Zach's heart. In Estonia, when Zach finally came out of quarantine, he came to pick up Charity Lawson for their one-on-one date. Kat stole him away right before he left with Charity and kissed him. This rubbed the other women, especially Brooklyn Willie, the wrong way. However, Kat defended her actions because she wanted to do whatever it took to spend as much time with Zach as possible.

Kat's Bachelor elimination was one of the most shocking of the season. She and Zach shared a strong connection, but it began to fizzle after they were separated during his bout with COVID-19. As Zach moves forward and visits the hometowns of Charity, Ariel Frenkel, Gabi Elnicki, and Kaity Biggar, Kat will go on with her own life. With her charming personality, Kat is a great contender for the next lead of The Bachelorette or a contestant in Bachelor in Paradise.
