Derek Peth, who has appeared on both Bachelor In Paradise and The Bachelorette, would make a great host for the next season of BIP now that Chris Harrison has seemingly stepped aside from his hosting duties for good. Chris Harrison first announced his temporary departure from the series after an interview he did with Rachel Lindsay where they spoke about Rachael Kirkconnell's racially insensitive actions. The fans and the contestants in the Bachelor Nation franchise called for Chris Harrison to step down as they did not feel that he was aware of his own ignorance towards the BIPOC community.

Shortly after Chris Harrison announced that he was stepping down, former leads Kaitlyn Bristowe and Tayshia Adams were announced as the co-hosts for Katie Thruston's season of The Bachelorette. Even though the fans are excited to see Kaitlyn and Tayshia help Katie in her journey to find love on the show, they aren't sure they would be the best hosts for the upcoming season of BIP. In turn, a contestant like Derek Peth could be a great replacement to host the series from here on out.

So why should Derek Peth be the next host of Bachelor in Paradise? Well, Derek has been a part of the franchise ever since he competed on JoJo Fletcher's season of The Bachelorette in 2016. Even though he was eliminated during week six after a two-on-one date, Derek became a beloved contestant from the show. In 2017, he appeared on his first season of BIP, where he met and fell in love with Taylor Nolan, who recently came under fire for some insensitive tweets from her past. Derek decided to propose to Taylor on national television. She said yes, and the pair's engagement was celebrated at the end. After a year together, Derek and Taylor called off their engagement and went their separate ways. Two years later, Derek returned to the beaches of Mexico to see if he could find the love of his life once again on BIP.

Bachelor in Paradise contestants with best chance of being The Bachelor

Derek Peth hit it off with Demi Burnett during his second go, but the relationship fizzled out after she came to the conclusion she was in love with her ex-girlfriend back home. After he left BIP alone, the viewers were calling on the franchise to make Derek the next Bachelor. While he was never offered the role, Derek didn't seem to mind it. Now, he is engaged to model Saffron Vadher, who he met shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic. Since Derek is no longer looking for love, now is the perfect time for him to become the host of BIP. He has experience as a contestant, so he would be able to give the contestants sound advice. Derek can manage to help guide the contestants in the right direction in their journey to find love.

After being a part of The Bachelorette and two seasons of Bachelor In Paradise, it might be time for Derek to fill Chris Harrison's shoes as host. Chris Harrison will likely not return to host Bachelor In Paradise this summer, and Derek could be his next best replacement. Alas, Derek is currently living in Idaho with his fiancé Saffron, where the couple is building a life together. While viewers could love to see Derek as the host, he seems like an unlikely option.
