Certain Bachelor Nation stars went on Bachelor In Paradise season 7 to gain more notoriety but ended up losing thousands of followers following their latest appearance in the franchise. After a new season of Bachelor In Paradise didn't air in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some fans were concerned that the spin-off wouldn't make its way back to TV. Alas, it didn't take long for BIP season 7 to be confirmed by ABC in 2021, and a lot of anticipation came with that announcement.

Overall, the Bachelor In Paradise season 7 cast was filled with fan-favorites from Matt James' season of The Bachelor and Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams' season of The Bachelorette. Moreover, this BIP cycle also featured quite a few brand-new contestants who had just appeared on Katie Thurston's season in 2021, as well as Becca Kufrin, who became the first former lead of The Bachelorette in history to then compete on Bachelor In Paradise.

3. Alayah Benevidez (-1,700 Followers)

Unfortunately, appearing on BIP season 7 wasn't necessarily a positive experience for some of the contestants on the show. From Peter Weber's season of The Bachelor, which aired in 2020, Alayah Benevidez went on to lose 1,700 followers on Instagram according to the numbers crunched by Bachelor Data. Generally, Alayah's run on Bachelor In Paradise was extremely short. She arrived in week three and then went home that same week, so it's fair to say that her time on the beach wasn't very productive when it comes to finding love and/or gaining social media followers.

2. Pieper James (-4,947 Followers)

All things considered, Pieper James and Brendan Morais' Bachelor In Paradise journey provided one of the wildest storylines in the history of the show. That is because BIP featured Pieper and Brendan having conversations about using the show to grow their social media presence and planning how to advance storylines that would keep them under the spotlight. Pieper didn't get as much criticism as Brendan did, but she still lost 4,947 followers on Instagram (via Bachelor Data). Given that their entire plan to go on the show seems to have been to grow their social media stats, it's fair to say that things completely backfired for this duo.

1. Brendan Morais (-87,019 Followers)

As explained beforehand, Brendan Morais was involved in the conversations with Pieper about becoming more famous after appearing on BIP season 7. However, Brendan got even more criticism from that situation because of the things he said on TV. There was also a feeling that he was much more involved in the planning and execution of this scheme, at least as far as Bachelor Nation can tell. As a result, Brendan lost a jaw-dropping 87,019 followers after his appearance on Bachelor In Paradise aired on ABC (via Bachelor Data). Considering that he was a fan-favorite on Tayshia Adams' season, this was quite a dramatic 180-degree turn for Brendan.
