Bachelor In Paradise season 5 couple, Astrid Loch and Kevin Wendt, welcomed their first child on November 20th. Bachelor Nation first fell in love with Astrid, 31, when she appeared on Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor. Fans met Kevin, 37, when he won The Bachelor Winter Games after winning the first season of The Bachelorette Canada. Although they were unlucky in love in their first experiences with the Bachelor franchise, they found each other in Paradise, and have been together ever since.
Astrid and Kevin were inseparable on their season of the show in 2018, but did not leave together, to the surprise and disappointment of fans everywhere. However, they reconciled soon after and, in 2019, they got engaged. They planned to marry in November 2020, but the wedding was postponed due to the pandemic. In May 2021, they announced that they were expecting the baby. Astrid and Kevin conceived this child through IVF (in vitro fertilization) after a long journey with infertility. After trying to conceive naturally for a year, they turned to intrauterine insemination (IUI), and during the second round, they lost a baby due to an ectopic pregnancy. They then decided to try IVF, which, thankfully, was successful.
Astrid and Kevin each celebrated the baby with birth announcements on Instagram on November 21, welcoming their baby into the world. They did not reveal the gender or name of the baby, and they both posted pictures that do not reveal the child's face. Astrid's photograph shows the baby on a blanket with the message, "you are my sunshine," and clutching Astrid's finger with a tiny hand. Astrid acknowledged the challenges they faced along the way, writing, "My whole world. Born 11/20/21 & finally home with the rest of the @thewendtgang. Sorry to keep you all waiting, just had to soak this moment up for ourselves first. #babywendt #ivf #ivfbaby #infertility."
Kevin also posted a picture of himself holding the baby on his outstretched arm, cradling the head in the palm of his hand without revealing the face. The background is a wall, presumably of their nursery, that says "one more bedtime story" with a series of baby books displayed under it. Kevin also posted a sweet message giving credit to Astrid for everything she went through to have this child, saying, "November 20th 2:02am @astridloch made my dreams come true. She is my absolute hero for everything she went through the last 2 days in the hospital, and the last 2 years doing everything it took to get this perfect munchkin into the @thewendtgang. I never thought a love like this existed. #ivfbaby #ivf." Astrid responded with, "My whole world (+ the puppies)."
Astrid and Kevin are one of the strongest couples to come out of Bachelor In Paradise. Fans saw their relationship grow when they were on the beach and were thrilled when that love extended beyond the show. Their devotion to each other and continuous support of one another through their journey to become parents resulted in their perfect miracle baby. It is lovely to watch them enter this new stage in their lives as Mommy and Daddy to their precious little one.
