The Bachelor star Hannah Brown may always seem to be smiling, but she opened up about her struggle with anxiety and depression on Mental Health Day. Things aren't always rosy as they seem for the former Bachelorette.

Fans were first introduced to Hannah Brown on Colton Underwood's season of The Bachelor, and the quirky former Miss Alabama won viewers' hearts, but ultimately placed seventh in the competition. Brown was then chosen as the lead of The Bachelorette season 15, where she got engaged to Jed Wyatt before learning that he already had a girlfriend. Brown then went on to compete on Dancing With the Stars, winning the competition with her partner Alan Bersten.

However, 26-year-old Brown's rise to reality television fame hasn't been without its challenges. On October 11, Brown posted an Instagram photo to honor World Mental Health Day. In the caption, Brown opened up about how a simple visit to the doctor's office prompted her to come to terms with her "silent, hostage struggle with anxiety and depression." She also reminded her 2.7 million Instagram followers that "progress in mental health is a journey with hills and valleys." In addition, she mentioned that her own mental health journey has resulted in private and public "destructive behavior." Hannah Brown urged fans to seek help if they are struggling with their mental health and to "be gentle" with themselves.

Since her stints on The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Dancing With the Stars, Brown has been pursuing solo projects, including creating content on TikTok, Instagram, and her new YouTube channel. Brown is currently single but has sparked romance rumors with ex Tyler Cameron, with whom she quarantined at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic. She also recently faced some backlash from fans and fellow Bachelor alums, after she used a possible racist slur while singing along to a song on an Instagram live. She issued an apology and has stated that she is committed to educating herself about racial justice.

Clare Crawley is Hannah Brown's successor as the newest Bachelorette, and Crawley has completed filming her season, which is set to premiere on October 13. Production was complicated by the coronavirus pandemic, which forced the cast and crew to remain quarantined at the La Quinta Resort and Club for the duration of filming. Rumors have also surfaced that Tayshia Adams, who appeared on Colton Underwood's season of The Bachelor alongside Brown, will replace Crawley as The Bachelorette at some point during the season.
