Former Bachelor contestants spoke out regarding Chris Harrison's' resignation following the racist and ignorant comments during his interview with Rachel Lindsay. The long-time host isn’t only receiving backlash from fans, but he is also receiving backlash from old participants of the show, including Hannah Brown, Bekah Martinez, Vanessa Grimaldi, and more.

Now that Chris Harrison has resigned, it looks as though he will be looking for another gig to fill his time, or he will be thinking about his actions. Many people have slammed him for his conduct in the interview with Rachel Lindsay, and they were angry at the fact that he continually tried to defend Rachael Kirkconnell's racist past. He asked people to give her grace but refused to acknowledge the people she offended. These allegations about Rachael have been floating around since the beginning of Matt James’ season and they are only being addressed now. Bachelor fans are not the only ones who are tired however, former contestants spoke up. They praised Rachel Lindsay for her strength and bashed Harrison. Many hoped that ushering in a new host would allow for change to properly take place on the show. Chris Harrison has had plenty of jobs in the past; maybe one will hire him back.

When Chris Harrison announced his departure from the franchise there were undoubtedly fans who did not want him to leave. According to E! Online, these are the former contestants who have spoken out following his resignation. A fan even commented that he did nothing wrong, Bekah Martinez from Arie Luyendyk's season slammed them and said, “aaaaaand cue the angry white women." Hannah Brown who has had issues of her own  due to her controversial past with racism where she said the N-word in a video, commented that accountability is important and said, “we have to confront where we have fallen short.” Hannah Brown went onto say that it is important to listen to “underrepresented voices.”

Bekah Martinez The Bachelor

More contestants have come out as well. Becca Kufrin, who usually hosts the Bachelor after-show with Rachel Lindsay, came to Rachel’s defense and said, “I will continue to have your back and advocate for and alongside you in any way, shape, or form.” Many more came to Rachel’s defense, including Pieper James, who is currently on Matt James’ season and said, “Black women in this franchise must always be hyper-aware of our 'grace' because no one is extending it to us." This is a word in the interview that Chris Harrison kept on repeating. Throughout the interview, he said that people need to give Rachael Kirkconnell grace, but he did not do the same for Rachel Lindsay in the interview. When she tried to explain she interrupted her and spoke over her.

So many times, when offended parties speak out against offenses they are hit with microaggressions like when Chris Harrison kept repeating that the “woke police” was coming for Rachael. Many more contestants like Kate Morton, Vanessa Grimaldi, Ben Higgins, Kit Keenan, and more came out and denounced Chris’s actions. Hopefully, with all this support they’ll be able to fix the rot of the franchise from the inside out.
