Elizabeth Corrigan, a recent eliminee on Clayton Echard's season of The Bachelor, recently revealed if she's spoken to Shanae Ankney since production commenced. For several episodes, there was much tension between the two women. After Shanae laughed off Elizabeth's mental health struggle with ADHD and described her as a "red flag" to Clayton, the rest of the contestants denounced Shanae. However, Clayton ultimately kept Shanae around and sent Elizabeth packing, much to the annoyance of Bachelor Nation. It's been about three months since season 26 wrapped up filming, and Elizabeth has shared with her Instagram followers whether or not she and Shanae have connected in the real world.
On the heels of Monday night's episode, viewers of The Bachelor were in an uproar after Elizabeth's elimination. Even Clayton had major regrets and issued a lengthy apology to the 32-year-old real estate agent. He wasn't aware that Shanae poked fun at Elizabeth for being neurodivergent. Had he known, Shanae would've been sent home "immediately." As the feud unfolded on national television, Elizabeth was bombarded on social media with messages of support. Many fans shared their own stories of battling ADHD and thanked Elizabeth for shedding light on its symptoms, which include being hyper-focused on one conversation. Shanae felt Elizabeth shunned her at the pool, but the latter explained how she can only concentrate on talking to a single person at a time.
In an effort to give back to and connect with her Instagram followers, Elizabeth answered a slew of submitted questions, including one that many have been wondering - has she spoken to Shanae since they parted ways on The Bachelor? In response, Elizabeth shook her head "no" and included the song "Hell To Da Naw Naw Naw" by Bishop Bullwinkle. Things got interesting later on in the Q&A session when someone asked, "Do you think Shanae is a paid actor? Or what's her angle??" Elizabeth said nothing. Instead, she cocked her head and raised her eyebrows. Previously on Twitter, Elizabeth cryptically stated that she has tea to spill on the forthcoming Women Tell All. It's possible she has the scoop on Shanae's true intentions but can't contractually say anything just yet.
While none of the questions delved into Elizabeth's feelings toward Clayton, one did inquire about which other men of the franchise she could see herself dating. Participants in the Q&A submitted a bunch of suggestions, including Aaron Clancy, a contestant from Katie Thurston's season of The Bachelorette who had a knack for calling out drama. Other ideal suitors for Elizabeth were Mike Planeta, also from Katie's season, Pardeep Singh, a fast favorite from Michelle Young's season of The Bachelorette, and Blake Moynes, the ex-fiancé of Katie who also vied for the hearts of Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams.
Despite the drama with Shanae ultimately resulting in her early elimination from The Bachelor, Elizabeth is happy that everything played out as it did. She responded to a fan who asked, "Thoughts on ABC making this OK and not removing her/saying something about bullying?!," by stating, "If they didn't we wouldn't be having this conversation. Right? And it's a conversation that needs to happen." Over the past few years, the franchise has been in hot water for the racially insensitive comments of contestants and former host Chris Harrison. But it seems Shanae made unwanted history by showing insensitivity to a mental disorder. Though Elizabeth wasn't completely innocent in the situation since she lied to Clayton about being in the hot tub during "shrimpgate," Shanae's actions allowed the neurodivergent community to come together in a positive way.
