Colton giving Cassie a rose on The Bachelor

In 2019, Cassie Randolph met Colton Underwood, who was the leading man for season 23 of The Bachelor. They fell in love, but ultimately, Cassie was not ready to be engaged. She left, but Colton jumped the fence to follow her because he felt that she was the one. At the end of the season, Colton did not propose, but he chose to leave with Cassie and continue their relationship off-camera.

Things seemed to be going incredibly well for Colton and Cassie for a while after the season ended. After a year and a half, including a brief pause, the couple officially called it quits. The breakup began to get quite messy, including some aggressive comments on social media and an argument over a chapter in Colton’s book. In September 2020, Cassie made claims of stalking and harassment against her ex-boyfriend.

Things began to spiral when Cassie appeared on The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons Ever! and her conversation was edited to focus on her recent breakup with Colton. They had wanted to keep the details about their breakup private and handle it in a professional manner, but things got out of hand quickly. Colton spoke out because he was frustrated, mostly about how they manipulated her words, and Cassie fired back claiming that she did in fact honor their agreement. Colton’s memoir also fueled the fire because he wrote about Cassie and she did not have any input in how she was depicted in his memoir after the breakup. She accused him of trying to monetize off their breakup without giving her any chance to approve how it was portrayed.

News broke that Colton was stalking and harassing Cassie after their breakup, but she was also receiving shady text messages and found a tracking device placed in her car. Shortly after the claims were made, it was confirmed that Colton was told to stay a minimum of 100 yards away from his ex-girlfriend, her car, and her workplace. He was also informed that he should not make any sort of contact with her, whether it was directly or indirectly. Cassie initially wanted to handle this matter in a private way to ensure the safety of everyone in her life, but the police eventually did get involved.

The couple was scheduled for a court hearing in early November, but just days before, Cassie filed to dismiss the temporary restraining order. They were able to handle the situation in private and address any concerns that Cassie had. The couple is still separated but has made a private agreement so the court did not have to be involved. Shortly after all of this, Colton came out as gay during an interview on Good Morning America, where he says that he really was in love with Cassie and apologizes for everything he put her through during their messy breakup.

Although their love story seemed perfect on television, things declined and got out of hand quickly after their permanent split. Cassie is moving forward and does not want to discuss her past, as said in a recent Instagram post. What happened after this split was a lot to unpack, and the couple does not seem to be on speaking terms as far as the public knows. Both Cassie and Colton are moving forward with their lives and navigating through new challenges that they are presented with.
