Every year, it is a near certainty that there will be multiple couples from Bachelor Nation who break up. In 2020, it was no exception.

Eight couples in all ended their relationships. One lasted two days while others went on for years and had multiple children before calling it quits. One of the relationships started in the spring of 2020 and by the start of the fall, it was over. Another seemed like an amicable split until details began to pour out about stalking that made everyone feel uncomfortable. One had recently gotten engaged, the other newly married, and yet another were married for three years with multiple children and the most solid relationship, it seemed, an eight-year marriage with two kids.

While breakups are never fun, they are an inevitability in Bachelor World, it seems. Here are the couples who ended things in 2020, in order of the time their breakup became public.

Krystal and Chris

Bachelor in Paradise Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone

Krystal Nielson and Chris Randone met on Bachelor in Paradise and were married June 2019. They weren't even married for a year when they publicly announced their separation in February. It may have taken Chris a little longer than Krystal to move on from this one, as Krystal already has a new boyfriend and a baby on the way.

Peter and Hannah Ann Sluss

Hannah Ann and Peter Weber on The Bachelor

Oh, Peter Weber. Where to start? He was one of the worst Bachelors in the history of the show, and although he has now found love with Kelley Flanagan, he took a rather circuitous route to get there. After dumping Kelley before hometowns, Peter eventually proposed to Hannah Ann, even though he didn't really see a life with her. He succumbed to the pressure of the show, and since she was the only one remaining, Peter made a decision he would soon regret. Even though overnight sensation and eventual meme Barb was head over heels in love with Hannah Ann, Peter, it turned out, was not. Hannah Ann railed against Peter's immaturity on After the Final Rose after he broke up with her, and Peter's obstinate mother applauded his public excoriation.

Peter and Madison Prewett

While Bachelor Nation relationships are notoriously short-lived, Peter and Madison went full William Henry Harrison when they decided to get back together on the season finale. Two days after they agreed to begin dating, they agreed to stop dating. It seemed like the appropriate decision, considering Peter's incandescent mom would never have approved. And it looks like it's worked out for them. Madison has been the source of multiple dating rumors, while Peter is still with Kelley (Editor’s Note: On Friday night, Peter announced he had and Kelley had broken up.).

Colton and Cassie

Cassie Randolph and Colton Underwood on The Bachelor season 23

Colton Underwood's fence jump was portrayed as a romantic gesture in the moment, but since then it has become a sign of deeper issues. When Colton and Cassie Randolph announced their split in May, the decision to part ways seemed amicable. Cassie appeared on an episode of The Bachelor recapping some of the greatest seasons of all time and was grilled by Chris Harrison about the breakup. She responded on social media by expressing her disappointment that the segment didn't show more of her talking about Trista Sutter, the first Bachelorette and the focus of the episode she was on.

Cassie and Colton were reportedly filming a reality show before Cassie filed a restraining order on Colton. The details of Colton's harassment of Cassie post-breakup are difficult to digest and bring into question the vetting process of prospective leads of the show. Colton recently resurfaced on Instagram after deleting all the photos of his account. Safe to say, we won't be seeing him on any future seasons of the show.

Becca and Garrett

Becca resting her head on Garrett's shoulder

Becca Kufrin chose Garrett Yrigoyen at the final rose ceremony on her season of The Bachelorette, and it came out that Garrett had liked some Instagram posts that put his character into question. Garrett answered those questions this year when he responded to the killing of George Floyd and the nationwide protests that followed with an Instagram post supporting law enforcement. While there were likely several factors involved in Becca calling off the engagement, it was clear that this decision by Garrett made an impact on the relationship ending. Garrett has already moved on from Becca and is in a new relationship.

Chris and Victoria

Chris Soules Bachelor Victoria Fuller

File this one under relationships you may have not even know was happening. Victoria Fuller, who placed third on Peter's season earlier this year, confirmed in April that she was dating Chris Soules, the former Bachelor who first appeared on Andi Dorfman's Bachelorette season. By September, Victoria stated on the Viall Files Podcast that she wasn't ready for life on Chris' Iowa farm. She told host Nick Viall, “I just think that right now, I’m in a different place than he is.”

Ashley and J.P.

Ashley and JP Rosenbaum seemed like they had a perfect relationship, but they shocked Bachelor Nation when they announced in October that after months of being separated, they had decided to move on. They share two children together. Ashley posted on Instagram on Oct. 14, "Please respect our privacy as we move forward with the newness of our lives. Our ultimate focus is to create stable and healthy lives for our children."

Carly and Evan

Carly Waddell and Evan Bass shocked Bachelor Nation in December when they announced that they were splitting up. They were married after meeting on Bachelor In Paradise and share two children together. Carly recently posted on Instagram, "Today is the first day that both kids are staying at Evan’s house overnight. I feel like I’m missing a piece of my soul."

Hopefully, less Bachelor couples will feel broken in 2021. This was a tough year for dating, and with plenty of time spent together for many couples in quarantine, it was also a time to figure out if it is going to work out long term. Bachelor Nation couples have never had a great track record of making it to the altar, but let's hope there's more weddings than breakups next year.
