Word is that fans of The Bachelor are getting a double dose of Bachelor Nation’s flagship series next year, and the second season is rumored to be led by none other than newly single Blake Moynes. After former Bachelorette Katie Thurston and Blake announced their breakup, the Canadian animal lover is back on the market, and apparently the network’s higher ups think Blake would be the perfect lead to follow the next Bachelor Clayton Echard. There’s still time for ABC to change its mind, but currently Blake is reportedly the network’s top choice.

Blake gained a reputation for being a serial Bachelorette dater, first appearing on The Bachelorette season 16 to date first Clare Crawley and then Tayshia Adams and later joining Katie’s season partway through. Eventually, Blake popped the question to Katie in the finale and the two were engaged for several months. But the couple wasn’t built to last and broke up earlier this week. While Blake and Katie were struggling, decisions were made by the network about the next season of The Bachelor, and Michelle Young’s contestant Clayton was chosen to be the next lead. However, the latest rumor is that there will be another season of The Bachelor that will air right after Clayton’s.

Entertainment gossip account Deuxmoi recently shared new information about the second Bachelor season in 2022 and who the lead might be. The source doesn’t name names but describes ABC’s top choice as a Bachelorette contestant with a “big personality” who just went through a breakup and lives in Canada. The description fits Blake perfectly and the source added that ABC wants his season to fit the Nick Viall mold of a Bachelor Nation regular finishing their journey as the lead. Blake is rumored to be following Clayton’s season 26 of The Bachelor, so there’s still time for the network to change its plans last minute.

Blake Moynes on The Bachelorette

It’s true that Blake has personality to spare and a compelling Bachelor Nation journey, but fans might not warm to him becoming the Bachelor so soon after his breakup with Katie. Blake got flack for jumping from Bachelorette to Bachelorette over the past two seasons, and being named the next lead could bring a fresh wave of criticism. After all, Katie and Blake just ended their relationship recently, and fans may doubt his readiness to date again so soon. However, with Clayton’s season filming first, there’s a lot of time before Blake’s rumored season starts, and the extra waiting period between seasons could provide enough time for Blake to heal from his relationship with Katie.

Although Blake may be in talks to become the next lead of The Bachelor, an official announcement is probably far off. It’s not uncommon for the network to pivot from one lead to another depending on fans’ reactions to rumors. But there’s no denying that Blake is a popular contestant, and ABC could certainly do worse. Time will tell if the network decides to go through with its rumored plans to cast Blake as the lead, but he could be a compelling choice.
