Ben Higgins, featured on The Bachelor season 20, opened up about the potential dangers of saying "I love you" on the reality dating show. Released by Us Weekly, Ben Higgins explained the problematic idea of saying "I love you" while dating on The Bachelor. After reflecting on his own decision to say these words on the series, Ben believes that "it's not a wise thing to do. It's not helpful" to the dating process. Many Bachelors and Bachelorettes have toyed around with claiming they love for contestants, but Ben says that only negativity can come from using the word so flippantly, especially with so many different people involved. When speaking on the subject, he explained that saying this is "hurtful for everyone involved" and suggested alternative options such as "hold[ing] it in" or humorously "talk[ing] to [their] pillow."

Ben Higgins on The Bachelor

With concerns about his actions on The Bachelor, Ben has plenty of wise words for future contestants within the franchise, hoping his mistakes will benefit other relationships and the series as a whole. Ben not only shared general advice for the series but also came out against some of Clayton Echard's behavior on the series. After seeing Clayton "intimate" with multiple women on The Bachelor, Ben questioned his intentions and stated, "I don't know in what scenario... that's gonna be helpful." Teasing potential chaos for Clayton as the series continues, Ben shared that this situation has the potential to "not end well" for Clayton. Ben questions Clayton's means of finding connection and warns him about how his choices might lead to a messy end on the series.

Ben and Jessica may not be perfect, but they certainly have advice and wisdom to share with younger contestants on the series. Humbly exploring his time on The Bachelor, Ben shared about his own mistakes and how the series can improve. For Ben, taking love more seriously would benefit the experience, helping to avoid complications and confusion. Dedicated to helping other couples on their journeys, Ben has been vocal about his own marriage struggles and how the series has impacted him as a partner. Still relevant to the conversation about love on The Bachelor, Ben hopes that someone will "listen to [his] advice" this time around.
