Will Barb and Peter’s family ever (truly) accept Madison now that The Bachelor season 24 has drawn to a close? Based on Barbara's resounding applause for Hannah Ann and her tacky response to Madison's return, juxtaposed against her obsession with her son, the answer to that is a strong... maybe.

On Tuesday night's finale, a packed audience watched as Peter's engagement to Hannah Ann imploded. The one-time couple reunited on stage and Hannah Ann didn't mince words when she told Peter how disappointed in him she was. She chided him for his irresponsibility with her heart, his dishonesty with his words, and even managed to get one last Hannah Brown-based dig in there for good measure. That last comment didn't sit too well with Peter's parents who looked confused and visibly annoyed with Hannah Ann's newfound Ms. Independent vibe. Then, in a shocking twist, Chris Harrison shared with Peter and the studio audience B-roll footage of him traveling to Madison's house in Alabama to make an appeal for her to reunite with the heartbroken pilot. Needless to say, Barb did not look pleased.

During the live finale, Chris asked a visibly upset Barb about how she thinks about Madison being back in Peter's life, she defended herself, saying, "Chris, of course, I have my feelings." She continued, "The show last night, it didn't show everything." She continued, "I will say, when I went for Hannah Ann, she was the one the embraced me with love." She then began to defend why she doesn't like Madison, saying, "The next day, we met Madison and it started out rocky." Peter's mom then went on to explain that she had to wait three hours for Madison to come into the house, as she was having a very important talk with Peter, and how they never received an apology. She then said that Madison told her she's not madly in love with Peter and that she wouldn't accept a proposal from him in the coming days.

With the finale barely over, the Internet is buzzing about Madison's change of heart (again). How can she take him back after the fantasy suites melee? How can she stomach dating a man whose mother narrows her gaze every time she sees her? Madison will have to answer those questions on her own. One thing is clear: Barbara should spend less time vilifying Madison over nitpicky things and more time looking at her son with those same hyper-critical eyes. Though, it was clear that Madison was able to defend herself to her possible future mother-in-law, without being disrespectful.

The Webers seem like relatively warm, inviting people. However, Barb's hyper-emotional interest in Peter's love life is odd, to say the least. At some point, she needs to let her son fly from the nest and be his own man. Peter may finally be ready to shed his Bachelor ways and find a woman who will usher him into the future he sees for himself rather than allowing him to remain the randy man-child he's been this whole time. Hannah Ann is a young girl who demonstrated a great deal of emotional maturity during part 2 of the finale. She will bounce back and meet someone wonderful when the time is right. Peter just wasn't her guy. As for Barb, she told her son in part 1 of the finale that she asked God to put the right woman in front of him. Therefore, she needs to accept that Peter's change of heart might just be divine intervention and learn to love the woman with whom he wishes to build a future.
