Thomas Jacobs may have been sent packing on The Bachelorette for admitting he had aspirations to become the next lead on The Bachelor, but franchise alum Nick Viall didn't see this as a major red flag. For several weeks, Thomas was the subject of many heated conversations among the men, who were convinced he wasn't there to find love with Katie Thurston. However, former Bachelor Nick believes Thomas' openness to appearing on another season is a natural thought to have.

Nick, who starred on The Bachelor season 21, was a special guest on a recent group date. He and Katie tasked the guys with revealing their deepest, darkest secrets. In Thomas' case, he shared that he went into The Bachelorette experience not knowing if he would have a connection with Katie. Until he was sure, Thomas said the idea of being named the next Bachelor was on his mind. Afterward, the other contestants voiced concern to Katie that he didn't have good intentions. In a shocking rose ceremony twist on Monday night, Katie called Thomas' name, only to step back and tell him to leave. This was a difficult decision since she had quickly formed strong feelings for him.

On the heels of Thomas' elimination, Nick, who vied for the heart of Andi Dorfman on The Bachelorette season 10 and Kaitlyn Bristowe on season 11, gave Us Weekly his opinion on the matter. According to Nick, while Thomas openly talked about being The Bachelor, most of the other men likely had the same idea. "No one talks about it out of fear of what happens ... Every guy has thought about being 'The Bachelor,'" he said. Nick reflected on how he didn't initially consider being cast as a lead, but that eventually changed. "That was my sincere thought too," he said. "And I remember when Andi broke up with me and I'm in the Dominican Republic and I was just a mess, but I had a thought of, 'I mean, wow, top two, like, I wonder if I have a shot of being 'The Bachelor?' Of course, you think about that stuff."

With a new season of Bachelor In Paradise on the horizon, Nick hopes Thomas makes an appearance. "I don't think Thomas is a bad guy, I'm sure he's a great guy," said Nick. "I hope he's on 'Paradise.' I think, you know, he will really mix it up there, but I think they accurately captured what was going on in the house with Thomas." A number of Paradise cast members have already been revealed by blogger Reality Steve, including Noah Erb, Abigail Heringer, Brendan Morais and Demi Burnett. It has yet to be announced if any of the current men will show up on the beach.

Regardless of whether Thomas was there for the right reasons, one thing is for sure -- Katie is not messing around when it comes to finding her husband. Typically, contestants who cause drama in the house manage to stick around for some time, even when it's clear they have no chemistry with the lead. For example, fans hated "Queen" Victoria Larson's prolonged stay on Matt James' season of The Bachelor. But Katie isn't tolerating any drama. As soon as a contestant starts to wreak havoc, including Karl Smith and Cody Menk, they're on their way home that same night.
