The Babysitter: Killer Queen hasn't received favorable critic reviews, but Netflix streamers seem to enjoy the 2020 horror film. So, will The Babysitter 3 happen? If so, when will it release, and what will the storyline be about? Directed by McG, The Babysitter: Killer Queen is a direct sequel to the 2017 movie, The Babysitterwhich also released directly to Netflix.

In The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Cole Johnson (Judah Lewis) desperately tries to prove that he's not suffering from major psychological issues. He survived the gory events of the first film, but doesn't have any evidence to prove that his babysitter, Bee (Samara Weaving), was part of a blood cult, primarily because the collective members were killed and disappeared. The Babysitter: Killer Queen co-stars Emily Alyn Lind in a reprisal role as Cole's friend/love interest Melanie, and Jenna Ortega joins the cast as transfer student Phoebe, a girl who conveys a hard exterior to protect herself from harm while dealing with emotional trauma from her past. McG's sequel includes a somewhat predictable twist that allows for cult-y characters from the original film, The Babysitter, to return.

The climactic events of The Babysitter: Killer Queen seemingly rid the franchise of several major players, but anything can happen in films that involve blood-thirsty demons who have been able to survive nasty injures and actual death. Moving forward, however, there are a couple big questions that remain unanswered, though a mid-credits scene does indeed tease what may come next. Here's everything we expect for The Babysitter 3 on Netflix.

The Babysitter 3 Renewal

Netflix hasn't yet greenlit The Babysitter 3. Since the film released on September 10, 2020, the streaming service will most likely take several weeks to assess viewership numbers. For a movie like The Babysitter: Killer Queen, the critic reviews will certainly play a role in the overall process, but negative takes won't necessarily kill the production of The Babysitter 3. Given the overall popcorn entertainment value of the horror movie franchise, along with the star power of the main cast, it seems reasonable to predict that The Babysitter 3 will be greenlit by the end of 2020, or certainly during the early months of 2021.

The Babysitter 3 Release Date

Andrew Bachelor, Bella Thorne and Robbie Amell in The Babysitter: Killer Queen

Assuming that Netflix greenlights The Babysitter 3 in 2020, production for a third installment will most likely take place in late 2021 or early 2022. The younger cast members are quickly becoming popular names in Hollywood (Ortega has been cast in 2022's Scream 5), and Weaving is arguably an A-list star at this point, primarily due to her lead performance in the 2019 hit, Ready or Not and her supporting role in 2020's Bill & Ted Face the Music. Expect Netflix to set a late 2022 or early 2023 release date for The Babysitter 3.

WARNING! Major spoilers for The Babysitter: Killer Queen

The Babysitter: Killer Queen ends with a big twist, as Bee (Weaving) returns from the dead, and reveals that she used to babysit Phoebe. Meanwhile, the blood cult moves forward with their Unhallowed Prophecy plan, but they ultimately experience violent deaths, the result of a "tainted" offering. As it turns out, Bee orchestrated a rather impressive plan after being involved in a car accident that killed Phoebe's parents and nearly killed the young girl, too. First, Bee made a deal with the devil so that Phoebe could survive. Later, after being emotionally moved by Cole's innocence, she decided to help him out upon realizing that he was being bullied. Bee's plan worked because Cole and Phoebe technically lost their innocence during an intimate moment together. That explains why the blood cult collectively disintegrated. In the end, Bee sacrifices herself because she's actually the last demon that needs to be defeated for Cole and Phoebe to go on living a normal life

Moving forward, The Babysitter 3 will theoretically focus on Cole and Phoebe. However, it's unclear which supporting players will return, and why. A mid-credits sequence shows that Bee's death book from The Babysitter is just blowing in the wind, which implies that she's not technically gone for good. Expect McG and company to somehow bring back the dearly departed demons once again, ridiculous as the reasoning may be.
