George Lucas holds The Mandalorian's breakout star Baby Yoda in what is quite possibly the perfect Star Wars photo. There's no doubt that Lucasfilm and Disney found great success through the release of the first live-action series in a galaxy far, far away. Not only did fans gravitate towards the old school style and tone of The Mandalorian, but series creator Jon Favreau hit the jackpot with the introduction of The Child.

Now known as Baby Yoda online - even though that is definitively not The Child's his real name - the small creature has captivated the hearts of everyone, but his appearance was a huge surprise. Not only was he not featured in any of the marketing, but this alien species has barely been explored in the franchise. After Yoda's debut in the original trilogy, the prequels introduction of Yaddle is the only other member of this race in canon. That all changed with The Mandalorian and many have wondered if Lucas approved of Baby Yoda.

Thanks to a new photo shared by Favreau on Twitter, fans can see the creator of the entire Star Wars franchise holding The Child. The image shows Lucas on the set of The Mandalorian holding the internet star. It is unclear when this photo was taken though, as it was previously confirmed Lucas went to the set during season 1. However, season 2 of the series is already filming, so this could be a sign that Lucas is once again visiting the production. Either way, the image is a delightful piece of content as fans wait for more episodes.

Although the primary takeaway here is Lucas and Baby Yoda together, this could confirm one important detail if the image is from the set of season 2. This would suggest The Child will not age significantly between seasons, ensuring that The Mandalorian can provide fans with more of the Baby Yoda memes and gifs that helped make him an internet sensation over the last few months.

Beyond the memes though, Baby Yoda will likely be an even more important part of season 2's story. The Child served as the MacGuffin in a simplistic first season, but the finale set the stage for him to be a bigger piece. Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) was tasked taking Baby Yoda back to his home, which could finally give us answers on where this species comes from and what their official name is. Of course, he was also made a part of the Mandalorian's clan and his Force powers will likely continue to be explored as well. With Lucas and Baby Yoda officially having met, whatever The Mandalorian reveals about The Child's origins may very well be approved by The Creator.
