Marvel Comics is teasing a brand new crossover event that will see the Avengers, Eternals, and X-Men face judgment day and perhaps, each other in an epic battle. On Monday, Marvel dropped an ominous teaser for an upcoming event in the summer of 2022, which shows the logos of the three superteams. The accompanying text suggests "Judgement day is coming," with the preview saying more will be revealed in 2022.

The Avengers, Eternals, and X-Men are all major players in Marvel Comics' current continuity, with each having its own ongoing series and spinoffs. Currently, the Avengers are taking on the Multiversal Masters of Evil, as the team is being retooled. Meanwhile, Jonathan Hickman's epic X-Men relaunch is reaching its conclusion in the X-Men's Inferno event, as a new creative team recently took over the main X title. Lastly, the Eternals are battling against Thanos while questioning their own future, as the Mad Titan has become the Prime Eternal.

So, what could Marvel Comics' new teaser regarding "judgment day is coming" refer to? Well, previews for the Eternals suggest they are about to face off against the Avengers in a significant way. Solicits for Eternals #10 revealed the cosmic heroes would go on a pilgrimage and break into Avengers Mountain, which is currently the hollowed-out Celestial, the Progenitor. Meanwhile, the solicit for Avengers #54 reveals the last remaining Deathlok from across the Multiverse will be trapped under the rubble of the Avengers "besieged" Avengers Mountain. Between the Eternals seeking answers, invading Avengers Mountain, and the Multiversal Masters of Evil, it sure seems like the Avengers HQ is about to fall.

It's unclear how the X-Men fit into the crossover event. But, considering Hickman's Inferno miniseries is about to wrap up and will likely usher in a new era for the mutants, it wouldn't be surprising to see the end of the series lead directly into the new crossover. Also, keep in mind, current Eternals writer Kieron Gillen is writing the upcoming Immortal X-Men series for Marvel Comics, which teases "the most powerful people on Earth deciding the fate of the whole planet."

It's exciting to see the most prominent players in the Marvel Universe starring together in a crossover event. With the bad blood between the Eternals and Avengers, and the fate of Earth hanging in the balance of the X-Men, the event should be spectacular. We will provide more details about the upcoming event when they're made available by Marvel Comics. The Avengers, Eternals, and X-Men will face off in the summer of 2022.
