Kang the Conqueror has been built up as the big bad for the Multiverse Saga, but that means one of the Avengers must make the ultimate sacrifice in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty to eliminate Kang as a threat. The Infinity Saga ended with Tony Stark sacrificing himself to wipe out Thanos and his army at the end of Avengers: Endgame, something which many believe will be repeated in the Multiverse Saga. Iron Man's death carried a huge amount of weight and changed the landscape of the MCU forever, so whoever takes down Kang the Conqueror needs to be a character whose death would pack a similar emotional punch.

None of the remaining Avengers have been established in the MCU to the level of Iron Man since he was the hero who started the entire franchise in Marvel Studios' first project, Iron Man. After Steve Rogers' retirement and Natasha Romanoff's death in Avengers: Endgame, the face of the MCU's Avengers team has changed significantly, so the eventual lineup for The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars is still unclear. Marvel Studios need to be very clever about which character they choose to end the battle against Kang.

Kang the Conqueror

He Who Remains smiling at his desk in Loki Season 1

In Marvel Comics, Kang the Conqueror routinely finds himself in conflict with his own multiversal variants, which is a possibility in the MCU since one has already been introduced. Loki saw the debut of He Who Remains, a variant of Kang who oversees the Sacred Timeline and created the TVA to keep in control of branching timelines. During his captivating speech in the Loki season 1 finale, He Who Remains tells the story of how he managed to stop his evil variants from overwhelming the multiverse, so there is potential for this storyline to play out, even though He Who Remains was killed by Loki's variant, Sylvie.

Another potential avenue that Marvel Studios could take a Kang vs. Kang battle would be to introduce Iron Lad into the MCU. Nathaniel Richards is a younger version of Kang who renounces his destiny to become the villainous tyrant, instead putting his energy into becoming a superhero. Iron Lad is often depicted as the leader of the Young Avengers, a team who have been set up in the MCU with the inclusion of characters such as Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, and Billy and Tommy Maximoff. A Young Avengers team-up could see Iron Lad battle an adult version of himself and potentially deliver the final blow on Kang the Conqueror.

Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom using magic.

After the finalization of Disney's acquisition of Fox in 2019, many Marvel fans have been desperate to see Victor Von Doom cast and introduced into the world of the MCU. Speculation had been rising that Doctor Doom was set to appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which didn't come to fruition, and the rumors of him being the primary antagonist in Marvel Studios' upcoming Fantastic Four project were quickly put to rest. Even so, the character will certainly be making himself known in the MCU soon, with slight teases being dropped in Phase 4, including a potential appearance of Latveria, his home nation, in Moon Knight.

It's unknown where Doctor Doom will debut in the MCU, but it would be an extremely powerful move if he was to kill Kang the Conqueror single-handedly in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, only to immediately take his place as the main villain for Avengers: Secret Wars. Doom has a remarkable power set that would make the battle between him and Kang an epic fight, rivaling the final battle between the Avengers and Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. This would also make for a strong debut for Doctor Doom, setting him up to be a significant villain for the future of the MCU.

Loki

Loki in his Asgardian garb.

One Marvel Studios hero already has more experience than any other when it comes to dealing with the multiverse, including Kang the Conqueror himself. Loki saw the titular God of Mischief taken from his branched timeline after escaping from the Avengers during Endgame, only to find himself on a redemptive journey in the TVA, meeting his own variants, and coming face-to-face with the man behind the curtain, He Who Remains. Loki season 2 will likely continue Kang's story, potentially providing Loki with even more important information that will help in the eventual battle against Kang the Conqueror.

If Loki returns to the main MCU timeline during Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, not only will this set up a brilliant reunion between him and his brother, Thor, but it will mean he is probably the best-equipped hero to take on Kang by himself. It would perfectly mirror the events of Loki if Loki himself lands the killing blow on Kang the Conqueror since his variant, Sylvie, was the one to kill a variant of Kang's when she eliminated the series villain, He Who Remains. Loki sacrificing himself for the sake of the multiverse would also be a brilliant full-circle moment, seeing the former villain truly redeemed for his past actions.

Reed Richards

Reed Richards in Doctor Strange 2.

Despite being portrayed by John Krasinski in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it's becoming clear that a different actor will be taking on the coveted role of Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mister Fantastic, in the MCU proper. As the leader of the Fantastic Four, Reed Richards is widely regarded as the smartest man alive and finds himself and his friends becoming superheroes after exposure to cosmic rays on a scientific mission into space. Reed Richards and the Fantastic Four will finally be debuting in the MCU during 2024's Fantastic Four, which will set the stage for their involvement in the final battle against Kang the Conqueror.

One factor that would make Reed Richards being the one to kill Kang the Conqueror even more powerful is the fact that the pair are actually related. Kang's real name is Nathaniel Richards, a descendant of Reed Richards who, thanks to his command over time, has traveled back through history and can live on the same timeline as his ancestor. Avengers-level team-up films, particularly Avengers: Endgame, have always explored the theme of family, introducing Iron Man's daughter Morgan and having Clint lose his entire family. Having Kang and Reed Richards battle each other would be the perfect way to continue this theme in the MCU.

The Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch bathed in red light in Doctor Strange 2.

Phase 4 saw Wanda Maximoff finally realize her true potential as the Scarlet Witch during WandaVision, becoming a remarkably powerful being with an obsession for traveling the multiverse in search of her lost children. While Wanda's villainy in WandaVision was morally ambiguous, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness saw her fully under the control of the Darkhold, the MCU's Book of the Damned, which allows her to "dreamwalk" into her Earth-838 counterpart's body and brutally decimate that reality's Illuminati. The Scarlet Witch's power has certainly become strong enough to take on Kang the Conqueror, proved by her almost defeating Thanos by herself in Avengers: Endgame.

After the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda's fate is left unknown, though it's speculated that she survived the collapse of Mount Wundagore. If she does return to the MCU, she'll surely want to seek out redemption for her past wrongdoings, and there may be no better way to do that than by killing Kang the Conqueror and saving the multiverse, especially after she was the one that put it in jeopardy through her risking incursions. Wanda's sacrifice to kill Kang would pack an emotional punch and could even inspire younger heroes, including her sons, Billy and Tommy Maximoff, to carry on her legacy.

Moon Knight

Moon Knight standing in front of the moon.

As one of the MCU's newest and most interesting heroes, Moon Knight has yet to be introduced to more established heroes in the franchise, but this will certainly change in the near future. Many are speculating that Marvel Studios' street-level heroes could form their own Avengers-style team, perhaps the Midnight Sons, which could see Moon Knight interact with the likes of Daredevil, Blade, and the Black Knight. However, Moon Knight could have a bigger part to play in the MCU, as the Egyptian God that inhabits his body shares a complex relationship with Kang the Conqueror.

Using his ability to time travel, one iteration of Kang the Conqueror finds himself in Ancient Egypt, where Kang rules as Rama-Tut, convincing the Ancient Egyptians to renounce the old Gods and worship him instead. This angered the Egyptian God Khonshu, the God of the Moon, who would one day select Marc Spector as his human avatar. This connection could suggest that if Moon Knight is involved in the final fight against Kang the Conqueror in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Khonshu might want to seek vengeance on the man he knows as Rama-Tut, enabling Moon Knight to be the one to kill the supervillain.

Thor

Thor lit up with lightning.

Thor is the last of the "big three" original Avengers to still be active in the MCU, but this could change very soon since Chris Hemsworth has spoken openly about his personal circumstances that could lead to him exiting the MCU. After the mixed reception to Thor: Love & Thunder, it's likely that any future adventure featuring Thor will take on a very different tone to prior films, which could potentially see the character face some hard decisions, and perhaps weigh the cost of sacrificing himself to save his friends. Thor killing Kang the Conqueror in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty would be hugely impactful to the MCU.

Thor is arguably the only character currently in the MCU who has seen a similar amount of attention as Iron Man, being introduced to the franchise in 2011's Thor and being the only character to receive four solo movies. This means that his potential sacrifice in an upcoming Marvel Studios project will be packed with a lot of emotion, especially now that he's acquired a daughter, Love, after Thor: Love & Thunder. Thor's sacrifice to save the multiverse from Kang the Conqueror in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty would perfectly finalize the storyline of the original Avengers.
