Warning! Spoilers for The Death of Doctor Strange #3 by Marvel Comics

The Avengers have just learned about a powerful new villain who is basically Galactus, but instead of feeding on planets, they feed on magic. In a new preview for The Death of Doctor Strange #3 by Marvel Comics, Clea talks about The Three Mothers and The Child, telling the Avengers that their newest threat is an Apex Predator whose hunger for magical beings can't be sated.

The Marvel Universe is in disarray following the murder of Doctor Strange, which led to the magical barrier surrounding Earth disappearing. With the barrier going down, new dimensional threats have arrived on Earth, but instead of invading the planet, they're escaping an even bigger threat - the Three Mothers. The trio of villains has claimed to serve The Child, a powerful magical villain that might be the strongest enemy the Avengers will ever face. Now, Clea is revealing more details about the Child and just how much trouble the Avengers are about to face.

In a brand new preview of The Death of Doctor Strange #3  (H/T monkeysfightingrobots) by Jed Mckay, Lee Garbett, Antonio Fabela, and VC's Cory Petit, the time remnant of Doctor Strange works with Jane Foster to perform a corporeal autopsy on the body of the Doctor Strange of the present day. Meanwhile, the magic-user Clea informs the Avengers of the Three Mothers, the Child, and where the powerful villains came from.

Clea describes the Three Mothers as "warrior-queens of unknown lands" who have carved their way across multiple dimensions. The group's sole goal is destruction in the name of The Child. Clea describes The Child as someone who "hungers for magic" and is the "Apex Predator of the magical food chain,' saying it has an appetite of hunger that "cannot ever be sated." Its food of choice? Magic users.

Clea says nobody knows The Child's true origin and that it might not even be a creature at all - but something else entirely.

Ultimately, The Child sounds a lot like another Marvel Comics villain, Galactus. While the Devourer of Worlds eats planets to feed its hunger, The Child chooses magic users for food but is never full.

While it's unclear whether The Child is as big as Galactus, the fact its heralds, the Three Mothers, wiped the floor with the Avengers with ease, its power levels are obviously massive. Plus, considering it's scaring the most potent magic users from across the cosmos, The Child might even be more powerful than Galactus. Readers will learn more about the Avengers' new Galactus-like threat when The Death of Doctor Strange #3 by Marvel Comics is in stores on Wednesday.
