The Avengers are on a collision course with Kang the Conqueror in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which will answer once and for all who will be victorious in their first battle. As the first installment in the Multiverse Saga's epic two-part finale event, The Kang Dynasty has the unprecedented opportunity to present a film unlike any other in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, this would also mean that The Kang Dynasty must exchange the ending of Avengers: Infinity War for a much different kind of cliffhanger ending that sets up an even bigger, more dangerous villain than Kang the Conqueror himself.

2018's Avengers: Infinity War includes the most iconic ending of any MCU film, as the Avengers lost to the Mad Titan Thanos. Although the Multiverse Saga is making major attempts to present Kang as an even better villain than Thanos, the existence of Avengers: Secret Wars doesn't necessarily imply that Kang will be victorious in his first bout with Earth's Mightiest Heroes. In fact, the best move for the franchise would be to see the Avengers defeat Kang once and for all in The Kang Dynasty, only to unleash an even bigger threat that they will have to face in the next film in the series, Avengers: Secret Wars.

Kang's Defeat Could Open The Door To A Bigger Villain

Kang is a character intrinsically tied to the Multiverse, as seen with his variant, He Who Remains, in the Loki Disney+ series, which implies that his defeat may be problematic moving forward in the MCU. The death of He Who Remains foreshadows the Multiverse's fracturing, leading to the Avengers' conflict with Kang, but that may not be the end of their story. In fact, the comic book source material for Secret Wars implies that Kang's defeat is only the beginning, introducing the true threat to the Multiverse, world-ending incursions. And, so long as such massive events are occurring, there will be those there to take advantage of the chaos.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is on the verge of introducing one of the most iconic characters in Marvel Comics, Doctor Doom. Kang's defeat in The Kang Dynasty opens the door for the adaptation of the storyline from the 2015 comic event, which implies that Doctor Doom is the villain of Secret Wars. And, though it is difficult to predict exactly when the Latverian dictator will make his first appearance in the franchise, it is inevitable that he will make his debut sometime before the end of the Multiverse Saga. With Kang out of the way, there would be nothing standing in the way of Doom's plan to rule the Multiverse.

Kang's Defeat Could Lead To A Grand-Scale Incursion

While Doom may stand behind Kang as the next major villain of the MCU, Kang's defeat could also bring about a grand-scale incursion that could leave the Multiverse's future in jeopardy. As is the case in the comics, Secret Wars may see the Avengers transported to Battleworld, where they must not only stop Doctor Doom, who has acquired the Beyonder's powers, but also fight against their Ultimate universe counterparts in order to preserve their own universe's existence. Especially if the Avengers find it necessary to employ Multiversal help to defeat the supervillain, the very fabric of reality risks utter destruction, just as He Who Remains had warned.

Kang's close connection to the Multiverse could suggest that his defeat would lead to more than one incursion, dealing with multiple worlds. Such a major event would allow for the introduction of the heavily-rumored multiversal heroes from Marvel's history appearing in Secret Wars, all united on Battleworld. Combining heroes from the Multiverse, such as Fox's X-Men, Marvel's What If, and other non-MCU worlds, Doom and Kang may only be the least of the Avengers' concerns in Secret Wars. As is the case with all incursions, only one universe involved can survive, leading Earth-616's heroes to fight against all odds to preserve their own reality's existence against otherworldly heroes.

Why The Avengers' Kang Defeat Could Still Be Problematic In The MCU

Even after the end of Secret Wars, Kang's defeat can have rippling effects throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving into Phase 7 and beyond. The Multiverse Saga seems poised to end on a note that will change the franchise forever, especially if Earth-616 is involved in an incursion-level event. The Multiverse would be left without one of its crucial players, one who was involved in countless major events throughout every timeline. Even if Doom becomes Kang's successor, there may not be any being powerful enough to uphold the fabric of the universe. His absence could cause an inexorable tear that would leave the Multiverse on the verge of collapsing.

Kang's defeat is inevitable in the MCU and, while the Avengers' victory may be predictable, the fallout of such an event has a chance to give one of the franchise's ongoing stories lasting consequences for years to come. In fact, the next Saga itself could deal with the aftereffects of Kang's defeat as the Avengers are forced to clean up the damage left throughout the Multiverse in his wake. Nevertheless, whether Kang's rule as the Multiverse Saga's main villain is relegated merely to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or whether it extends much further, the MCU is sure to never be the same once he finally arrives.
