Warning! Spoilers for A.X.E.: Judgment Day #1 by Marvel Comics

The Eternals kept a huge secret from the Avengers regarding Thanos and the near-destruction of Earth, leading Earth's Mightiest Heroes to lose trust in them. In A.X.E.: Judgment Day #1 by Marvel Comics, Iron Man confronts Sersi about keeping the deadly secret of Thanos' return and near-annihilation of the planet from the Avengers. Frustrations run high as the hero berates the Eternals for hiding a doomsday-level event from him.

The Eternals have made enemies of the Avengers after keeping the return of Thanos a secret from them. The Mad Titan nearly conquered the ancient race of cosmic heroes after his body was remade upon exposing the true cost of being Eternal. Thanos would make a play for power, becoming the Prime Eternal, while making it his mission to destroy the Machine and Earth. However, fail-safes in the Machine stopped the villain during his attempts to take down the planet before it was too late. However, despite Thanos ultimately failing to destroy the Earth, the Avengers aren't impressed with his return and his actions being completely hidden from them.

In A.X.E.: Judgment Day #1 by Kieron Gillen, Valerio Schiti, Marte Gracia, and VC's Clayton Cowles, the Avengers successfully capture Sersi of the Eternals and bring her back to their Celestial headquarters in search of answers about Thanos and their upcoming war with the X-Men. Iron Man expresses frustration about the Eternals trying to sneak into Avengers Mountain to communicate with the Celestial but admits his trust with them broke after the team was informed Thanos was on Earth, somehow became the leader of the Eternals, and the planet was minutes away from being destroyed. Sersi tries to justify keeping Thanos secret, saying there are only things Eternals can know, but Tony Stark doesn't buy it.

Thanos Avengers

Iron Man admits the secret and losing trust in the Eternals over Thanos led him to track the ancient heroes, leading him to discover Celestial energies, indicating the start of the war against the X-Men. However, Sersi tells the Avenger she's not the Eternals they need to worry about as Druig begins his assault by unleashing his deadliest forces.

The Avengers were right to have their guards up with the Eternals, as the ancient heroes are notorious for keeping secrets about the problems they face, including the return and rule of Thanos and the potential end of the world. However, even if the Mad Titan was a problem only they could deal with, the Eternals broke the little trust with Earth's Mightiest Heroes they had by hiding the whole ordeal until it was already dealt with. The fact that the world nearly ended at Thanos' hands without the Avengers even knowing is an unforgivable secret by the Eternals causing further friction between them.
