The Avengers Face Marvel's Strongest Villain EVER

Warning: SPOILERS for Avengers: No Road Home #2

Over the last 50 years, the Avengers have gone up against a long list of ridiculously powerful characters, but they all pale in comparison to the villain of Avengers: No Road Home. Nyx, Queen of the Night, may be Marvel's strongest villain ever.

Avengers: No Road Home is a weekly 10-part event and the sequel to 2018's Avengers: No Surrender. The series is bringing back Grandmaster's daughter, Voyager, who debuted in No Surrender. No Road Home unites Hercules, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Hawkeye, Rocket Raccoon, Hulk, Voyager, and Spectrum in a battle to save the world from the Olympian goddess, Nyx, who had been imprisoned for several centuries. The series will also see Conan the Barbarian team up with the Avengers, to give them an edge against another fantasy foe.

In Avengers: No Road Home #2, Nyx is shown murdering an entire horde of Olympian gods, including Hermes, Artemis, Athena, and even Zeus himself. As the supreme god of the Olympians, Zeus is on the same level as his Asgardian counterpart, Odin. Nyx ends Zeus' life simply by snapping his neck. The Avengers arrive to intervene, but are defeated with ease despite the presence of Hulk and Hercules - two of the strongest characters in the Marvel Universe.

What makes her victory over the Olympian gods and the Avengers even more startling is the reveal that Nyx is actually at her weakest point. Zeus broke her soul into shards and scattered it across the universe. Nyx will have to find each shard and reclaim all of her power, which means that a seemingly unstoppable villain will become even more overpowered if she isn't stopped soon.

It should of course be mentioned that this is far from the Avengers' first beatdown. Earth's Mightiest Heroes have been on the losing side of several battles with villains like Thanos, Onslaught, Ultron, and Kang the Conqueror. Up until this point, perhaps the worst of them all came in the battle against Michael Korvac, who killed a much larger team of Avengers before committing suicide. What may make Nyx seem even more formidable than Korvac is the idea that she accomplished all this while being severely weakened, whereas Korvac was fighting the Avengers at the height of his power.

It will be interesting to see how this small team of heroes will find a way to beat Nyx, and what role Conan will play in the struggle ahead. Depending on how the battle turns out, the Queen of the Night could potentially go down as the strongest villain ever to cross paths with Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
