Avengers: Secret Wars is the final project of the Multiverse Saga for the MCU and a new theory sets up a huge Spider-Man fight. Besides the release date, there is not much about the movie out yet, but Marvel enthusiasts are already creating theories about what may happen or who may appear in the sixth Avengers film. A specific one of those Secret Wars theories discusses the possibility of Tom Holland’s Peter Parker going up against Andrew Garfield's and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Men.

At the very end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, in the first end credit scene, Eddie Brock/Venom from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is seen transported back to his universe after Doctor Strange fixes the spell. At that moment, the audience can see a piece of the Venom symbiote left behind at the bar Eddie was at, ultimately hinting at Tom Holland’s Spider-Man interacting with it in the future of the MCU. This is where the theory (via TikTok) comes into play.

The theory dives into how, in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, audiences witness how the symbiote corrupted Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker into becoming a rage-filled and rude individual. In the Secret Wars storyline from the comics, this is where Spider-Man first comes into contact with the symbiote, and the theory posits this is where Tom Holland's MCU Spider-Man will also make contact. While nothing is confirmed at this time, it is likely that the next two Avengers films in MCU Phase 6 will bring in heroes from multiple universes, such as Tobey's and Andrew’s versions of Spider-Man. The theory suggests that Tobey's Spider-Man will return to the MCU again and try to persuade Tom into getting rid of the symbiote, as he himself has previous experience with the Venom symbiote. However, the theory argues it will be too late as Tom will likely be deeply connected with the symbiote by that point, causing him to reject their help and leading the two veteran webheads to fight the MCU Spider-Man in his new symbiote suit.

Venom In The MCU And Tom’s Spider-Man’s Vulnerability

Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Spider-Man in No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home left Peter Parker with everyone forgetting who he is and the death of Aunt May, putting him in a very vulnerable state. Earlier in the film, when all three Spider-Men meet, Andrew’s Peter talks about how he stopped pulling his punches and became full of rage after failing to save Gwen back in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. His character went through loss in both of his films, and after all the tragedies Tom’s Peter has gone through since joining the MCU, it is reasonable to say that he may head down a similar dark path as Andrew’s character. If Peter Parker merges with the symbiote Eddie Brock left behind in his universe, it could amplify his emotional state and make the corruption from the merge even worse.

Besides the symbiote seen in that end credit scene, there is no Venom in the MCU timeline. It is also a very tiny portion of the symbiote that was left behind, which makes it uncertain as to how it could fully take over the MCU's Peter Parker. It's worth noting that there is a rumor that Tom Holland will appear in the Fantastic Four, so it's possible he will come into contact with the Venom symbiote in that film as it is supposed to release a year before Avengers: Secret Wars.

Avengers: Secret Wars is set to release on November 7th, 2025. While this project is a long way from coming out, the Multiverse Saga is showing that anything is possible now in the MCU and anyone can make an appearance at any given moment. The three Spider-Men were able to bond and connect emotionally during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. If the theory comes true, their emotional connection would make this theorized fight so much more emotional and heartbreaking for the audience to bear witness.
