Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo are campaigning for an Avengers reunion, but in a less traditional sense. Earth's Mightiest Heroes first assembled in 2012 when the MCU had its first major crossover film. Following the end of the Infinity Saga in Avengers: Endgame, the Multiverse Saga now only has three remaining founding Avengers: Thor, Hulk, and Hawkeye. With Iron Man and Black Widow dead and Steve Rogers officially retired as Captain America, it's up to their former teammates to usher the MCU into a brand-new era of storytelling. All the surviving original Avengers have already made appearances in the Multiverse Saga. Hawkeye headlined his own Disney+ series in late 2021, Thor starred in his fourth solo film Thor: Love and Thunder, and finally, Hulk recently appeared in She-Hulk.Related: Marvel, Stop Disrespecting The Surviving Avengers' Endgame ArcsDespite the MCU now fully moving on from the Infinity Saga, the original Avengers are still sorely missed, and based on Hemsworth and Ruffalo's latest social media posts, fans aren't the only ones who feel this way. It started with Hemsworth reposting a brief video of him, Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., and Chris Evans singing the Beatles "Hey Jude" and proposing that they get the band back together. Ruffalo then chimed in and claimed they go on a world tour. Check out their respective tweets below:

Can the Original Avengers Reassemble In The MCU?

The original video was initially shared by Downey during the press run for Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Sadly, it doesn't feature Jeremy Renner and Scarlett Johansson, but it's safe to say that Ruffalo and Hemsworth wouldn't mind bringing them in for their proposed reunion. Obviously, this idea was made for comedic purposes, but it floats the idea that the original Avengers may re-assemble again in the MCU one day. Currently, there are no plans for this as Marvel Studios are busy building the Multiverse Saga which has been focused on establishing second-generation heroes as the next faces of the franchise and introducing new players. However, it's still fairly early to bring back the franchise's founding heroes as it has only been a little over three years since they were last on the screen in Avengers: Endgame.

This doesn't mean that the original Avengers will never return to the MCU. Despite having some hiccups, Marvel Studios continues to preserve its continuity, which makes the original Avengers important to the franchise's history. Meanwhile, the burgeoning Marvel Multiverse allows them to bring other versions of the said characters, including those who already died like Iron Man and Black Widow. At this point, however, it's safe to say that seeing the original Avengers reconvening won't be happening for a long while.
