Sebastian Stan says it'll likely be a long while before The Avengers 5 will happen, but there will be plenty of adventures before then. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is at an interesting point, having wrapped up its twenty-three-movie-spanning Infinity Saga just last year. Phase 4 will begin this fall with Black Widow and will include projects with both familiar faces and those brand new. And with the MCU spreading into television (again) through shows on Disney+, the universe just keeps getting bigger. Even though most of the original Avengers have either made their exits already or will likely do so within the next couple of years, fans are expecting another massive team-up movie at some point in the future.

The Avengers 5, or some other equivalent, has yet to officially enter development. Fans noticed it wasn't included among the many, many projects announced last year at San Diego Comic-Con, and Marvel boss Kevin Feige said that's largely because Phase 4 is all about new beginnings. That doesn't mean there won't be another Avengers film further down the line, and many have even begun to speculate about what major event could bring all of the MCU's heroes together. A likely contender is the Secret Wars from Marvel Comics, though that's hardly been confirmed.

During an Instagram Live interview with Variety, Stan was asked if he had any insight into the next big Avengers movie. Stan was quick to say with a laugh, "Oh I know nothing. You know I know nothing about that. You know, I’m just… I’m just a man." He then continued and added, "We’ve got to figure out a couple of other missions first before we even get there. I gotta deal with this other person that I have to deal with. It’s been nice to have a break from [Anthony Mackie]... But we got to figure out some adventures together first before we get there."

Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Those adventures with Anthony Mackie will be seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the first Marvel show headed to Disney+. It will follow Stan's Bucky Barnes and Mackie's Sam Wilson as they adjust to a post-Avengers: Endgame life and deal with a new threat, all while bickering as usualThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier is currently slated for an August debut, but production was shut down last month due to the coronavirus pandemic. It's unclear if the delay will impact the show's release, though when Stan last commented on it, he didn't know when production would resume.

Since even The Falcon and the Winter Soldier feels incredibly far-off at this point, the wait for The Avengers 5 seems even longer. On the other hand, since Marvel fans are still processing the epic Endgame, it might be better to wait a bit before diving into the next massive team-up. Plus, just think of it this way: The anticipation can only make it better, provided The Avengers 5 can live up to the hype. Fans will just have to wait and see.
