Warning! Spoilers for Iron Man #16 by Marvel Comics

The Avengers just received a power upgrade they didn't ask for, as Iron Man used his new god powers to make each hero as smart as him. Tony Stark decided to make his fellow heroes smarter by using the Power Cosmic to change their intellect instantly. However, the Avengers didn't consent to the power upgrade and now have to deal with an entire city becoming as smart as Stark as he's somewhat out of control with his new abilities.

Iron Man ascended into godhood after gaining the Power Cosmic while trying to stop the villain Korvac from doing the same. However, after Korvac managed to steal power from Galactus' worldship, Taa II, Stark decided he had no choice but to do the same to stop him. In the process, Iron Man gained reality-altering powers and ultimately stopped Korvac. However, upon returning to Earth to show off his new abilities, his fellow Avengers aren't exactly comfortable with Tony Stark having the powers of a god and have immediate concerns.

In Iron Man #16 by Christopher Cantwell, Julius Ohta, Frank D'Armata, and VC's Clayton Cowles, Iron Man explains to the Avengers that he's not a threat - but the heroes realize his ego and powers are going to be a problem. But, before the team can act, Iron Man offers them a gift, using the Power Cosmic to share his intellect with the Avengers and everyone in the city. Despite pleas to stop, Tony Stark gives the Avengers unwanted upgrades making them smarter.

Iron Man Marvel Comics Upgrade

Funny enough, the power upgrade doesn't make every single Marvel hero in the vicinity smarter, as Reed Richards notes he just became dumber after Iron Man shares his intellect. Ultimately, while Tony Stark's intentions about making the Avengers and everyone in the city Stark-level geniuses, it's a dangerous upgrade that nobody asked for. Does Iron Man seriously not believe villains will use their newfound intellect to learn a new way of taking down the heroes? His naivety has reached new heights.

While the Avengers (except for Reed Richards) are smarter than ever before, Iron Man really didn't think about the possible repercussions of gifting them his intellect. With an entire city filled with heroes, villains, and regular people all now having Stark-level smarts, it seems like something is destined to go wrong. Plus, no one asked for the upgrade, as Tony Stark didn't get consent, showing his arrogance and powers are already leading to destructive, non-thought-out decisions. Iron Man using his god powers in such a huge way is dangerous and surely will backfire immediately. Iron Man #16 is in comic book stores now.
