The Russo brothers have begun a countdown to the long-awaited Avengers: Infinity War trailer on their official Facebook account. The third Avengers film and the still-untitled Avengers 4 will be a turning point in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing together the Avengers, New Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and new superheroes in what is being referred to as the culmination of the MCU as we have come to know it.

Lucky attendees at this year’s D23 Expo and San Diego Comic-Con got the first look at the Infinity War teaser, which gave them a hint at some action sequences and emotional moments from the heroes as well as a clearer look at their costumes and Thanos himself. Since then, fans have been waiting for the studio to officially release the teaser or a full trailer online, and it seems they won’t have to wait much longer, as directors Anthony and Joe Russo have begun a trailer countdown.

The Russo brothers shared a photo of a very happy number 3 to their Facebook page (see the image below), teasing the upcoming release of the Infinity War trailer. The common bet is that it means we are three days away from the trailer release, meaning it will arrive on Thursday, November 30. However, other fans are speculating that what the Russos actually mean by the "3" here is “December 3rd”. Whichever way, everyone is mere days away from finally seeing what Marvel has been preparing all along with this trailer.

Earlier this month it was reported that the Infinity War trailer will arrive “early December”, in time to be attached to Star Wars: The Last Jedi. In addition to that, various images and even a clip from the trailer have already made their way online - something that might prompt the studio to release the trailer earlier than expected, as they did back in 2014 when the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer was leaked.

Avengers: Infinity War, set four years after the events in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, will see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes joining forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to face their biggest threat to date: Thanos, who is collecting the Infinity Stones for his Infinity Gauntlet, which would allow him immense power on many levels. Fighting alongside the Avengers and the Guardians are the New Avengers and relative newcomers Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, and Black Panther.

Fans will want to keep an eye on the Russo’s social media accounts - and the internet in general - in the next days, as anything could happen at this point. It wouldn’t be the first time that Marvel played with everyone's minds or the first time that one of their trailers was released before the expected date. It’s only a matter of waiting to see the new scenes and heroes that will be featured in the trailer, as it will definitely be different from the one shown in on the convention circuit earlier this year.
