Shuri and Nebula
Though Shuri and Nebula share no real connection, they were featured together in the recent photoshoot. They also both failed to appear in the Avengers: Infinity War trailer despite the fact that both are slated to show up in the film. Given how much Wakanda will play into Thanos assault on Earth, it's hard to imagine Shuri won't have a sizable role alongside T'Challa and Okoye. In fact, her mastery of technology could just tip the battle in the heroes' favor.
Nebula, meanwhile, went off on her own at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. While that might seem to explain her absence from the ship when Thor arrives, Avengers: Infinity War takes place 4 years after that film. Though Nebula has had time to rejoin the team, it looks like she'll still be on her own journey. Of course, she certainly won't miss out on the battle against her demented surrogate father, especially when his other 'children' come to Earth.
Ebony Maw and Black Dwarf
Created by Jonathan Hickman as Thanos' generals when he invades Earth for the Infinity event, the Black Order are five of the universe's deadliest threats. We've known for awhile that only four would appear and they'll be transformed into more of Thanos' children—like Nebula and Gamora. So while Supergiant isn't getting adapted, Black Dwarf and Ebony Maw were noticeably absent from the trailer.
We see a brief glimpse of Proxima Midnight throwing her spear at Captain America, and Corvus Glaive's staff can be seen tapping into Vision's Mind Stone at one point. Early set photos and videos showed the wife and husband team fighting Vision and Scarlet Witch in Scotland, so we've known a bit about who they'll be after in the film. Maw and Dwarf are still unaccounted for, but the former prefers to work in the shadows (and people's minds). Likely, he'll confront the science/magic team while Dwarf takes on the Wakandan group (something he does in the comics).
Along with these key players, all sorts of supporting characters like Happy Hogan and Pepper Potts are missing from the teaser. And of course, fans are still hoping the ten year celebration of the MCU will finally bring Agent Coulson back into the fold. Who knows what will end up on the cutting room floor and which new characters will be introduced in the film, but the roster is already stacked. As for those character missing from the trailer, hopefully we'll see them when the next look at Avengers: Infinity War comes around.
