The Soul Stone was the most secretive Infinity Stone in Avengers: Infinity War, but did Thanos (Josh Brolin) actually use its power more than originally believed? The Mad Titan collected all six of the powerful relics over the course of the movie, and repeatedly put their powers on display. Previous Marvel Cinematic Universe movies already established the existence and location of five of the Stones, leaving only the Soul Stone to be revealed during the film.

The reveal came when Gamora (Zoe Saldana) told Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) that she knew the location of the Soul Stone. Thanos knew that his favorite daughter had deceived him and tortured Nebula (Karen Gillan) until she caved and gave up the information he so desperately was after. This took the pair to Vormir, where Thanos sacrificed Gamora in order to retrieve the Soul Stone, and eventually made it possible for him to snap his fingers and wipe out half of the universe's population. But, after all the secrecy surrounding the stone, it was not featured nearly as much as expected.

In the latest Screen Rant video, we theorize that Thanos may have actually used the Soul Stone more than many have realized. He had to use it to pull off the Decimation and has also been seen using its power to identify the real Doctor Strange on Titan, but he appears to have used it in this same battle - and possibly for mercy? Check out the theory in the video below:

While the Soul Stone does appear to be glowing, this could also be a strange trick of the lighting that makes it appear this way when Thanos is fighting Iron Man. This could explain how Thanos knew so much about Iron Man, as he could be using the stone at this time to learn even more about his opponent. But, since it's not clear either way, the theory does hold weight for the time being. If it's proven to be true down the road, then it could make Thanos an even more fascinating villain, as he would have spared the lives of Star-Lord, Nebula, and Drax (Dave Bautista), only for them to be randomly chosen as victims by his snap.

Either way, many are expecting the Soul Stone (and all the other Infinity Stones for that matter) to have a big role in Avengers: Endgame. The Soul Stone in particular is tied to several fan theories about where the snap victims are really located. This is also believed to be the location of Gamora's soul, meaning she's not truly dead and could be brought back to life if her soul is traded for another. Thankfully, Endgame is quickly approaching its release date, so we'll know soon enough. In the meantime, this theory just goes to show that there may still be more details to gain from Avengers: Infinity War after all.
