A new fan-made trailer gives Avengers: Infinity War's Thanos and Gamora a Logan-style treatment. While the upcoming Marvel offering boasts a massive cast of superheroes from the franchise exciting millions of fans, the Mad Titan will still be the central figure that moving the narrative forward. Dubbed Thanos' origin film, Avengers 3 will officially introduce people to the galactic villain after years of only seeing him in cameos, offering us a look at his headspace in the hopes of understanding why he's doing what he's doing.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo with the story penned by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, Infinity War will pit Earth's Mightiest Heroes against Thanos and his children, in a race towards collecting all six Infinity Gems. The movie's trailer shows the Mad Titan already having two of them (Power and Space), which means the Avengers and their newfound allies need to work hard in keeping Doctor Strange (Eye of Agamotto/Time Stone) and Vision (Scepter/Mind Stone) safe while also tracking the remaining two gems: Reality and Soul.

Courtesy of YouTube content creator, Darth Blender, the fan-made trailer mines inspiration from the Logan trailer released last year with Johnny Cash's rendition of "Hurt." But this time, the artist used snippets of MCU footage mainly featuring Gamora and Thanos, as well as other snippets from the Infinity War trailers. Finally, they also included a scene with Stan Lee from The Incredible Hulk who becomes the Professor X in this particular context. "In the near future, a weary Thanos cares for an ailing Stan Lee in a hide out on the Space border. But Thanos's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young arrives, being pursued by mistery forces," the clip's brief description says.

Since there is only a handful of official footage for Gamora and Thanos, it was obviously difficult to make a more seamless edit. But given what the creator had, he pulled off a trailer that encapsulates the idea that fans may actually feel for Thanos, despite his ruthlessness because of her ties to a young Gamora. Albeit literally taking her away from her parents, it's interesting to see how it looks like she willingly went with the Mad Titan when he held out his hand. That one shot in the trailer was such a powerful visual that it quickly established that the supervillain will be more than just the ruthless foe that he's built up to be.

The MCU is not necessarily known for their villains. On top of Thor's Loki, Black Panther's Killmonger and Spider-Man: Homecoming's Vulture, the rest of the franchise's bad guys are one-dimensional and generic. So poising Avengers: Infinity War as the antagonist-centric film could be tricky, especially with someone like Thanos who could easily obliterate any of the fandom's favorite heroes. It's certainly a bold move for Marvel Studios tackling their usual waterloo and putting it at the center of their biggest project. But if anything, giving Thanos a brand new origin story and more justifiable motivation than the comics, is proof that writers Markus and McFeely know what they're doing. We can only hope that however his characterization pans out, the Mad Titan lives up to the hype.
