Marvel star Chris Pratt admits that Star-Lord committed a terrible mistake in Avengers: Infinity War. Suffering an epic meltdown after learning of Gamora's demise, Peter Quill let his emotions get the best of him, resulting in the Titan crew failing to secure the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos.

Since the release of Infinity War, Pratt's Star-Lord has received a lot of backlash from fans after his Titan breakdown. Over the last couple of months, fans and even people involved in the film have weighed in on the matter. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo explained that while it's easy to blame the Guardians of the Galaxy member for the Avengers' failure in defeating Thanos, everyone had a part to play in their lost cause. At one point, Pratt even defended his character's actions, saying that Quill is known to be an emotional guy, so his reaction upon finding out that his girlfriend was murdered was just normal. But now, the actor is singing a slightly different tune, saying that he understands people's current distaste for the hero.

During an interview with Digital Spy while promoting The LEGO Movie 2: The Second PartPratt says that he agrees with the majority of people blaming Star-Lord with regard to the Avengers' failure to stop Thanos in Infinity War. Despite that, he's not worried about the character's reputation taking a massive hit following his mistake, especially since he knows what goes down in Avengers: Endgame"I think it's totally true, and I personally feel the same as everyone else about Star-Lord. But I know things, ok? And I feel like audiences are gonna be blown away when this next film comes out," he said. When asked if the character will be redeemed in the future, Pratt doesn't seem to be particularly interested in it explaining that "even if it's not, it was worth it, because this is an experience for fans that truly never will be matched again in the history of cinema."

Star-Lord dissolves after the snap

While Star-Lord's breakdown definitely played a significant part in the Avengers losing to Thanos, there were other factors that contributed to their defeat. One can argue that Thor was also to blame considering that he opted to gloat than go for a quick kill, giving the Mad Titan enough time to snap his fingers and enact The Decimation. Who knows, every mistake the heroes committed in the film might actually be a set up for their win in Endgame as part of Doctor Strange's secret plan

Chances are that fans will be treated with a redemption arc for Quill moving forward following his Avengers: Infinity War mistake - perhaps in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Although considering that the threequel's production is currently on hold following the surprising firing of director James Gunn last year, it might take a bit long for  Quill to get his chance to woo the crowd back. There's also the possibility that he, alongside all dead heroes confirmed to be back, pop up in Endgame and help in taking down Thanos. Regardless, considering that Marvel characters are known for their human nature, it's safe to say that the public will eventually forgive Star-Lord for his slip-up.
