Infinity War Merchandise Highlights War Machine's New Armor

A better look at War Machine's new armor has finally arrived thanks to some Avengers: Infinity War merchandise. Fans are still patiently awaiting the next look at this summer's big Marvel team-up, especially considering all the characters missing from the Infinity War trailer. In some cases, we know the reason behind the absences. The Ant-Man & The Wasp trailer makes it pretty clear the film takes place before Thanos comes to Earth. Meanwhile, the characters that joined forces at the end of Thor: Ragnarok probably meet a spoiler-y fate when Infinity War begins.

While Rhodey and his War Machine armor weren't missing from the first teaser - or the Avengers: Infinity War Super Bowl ad - we weren't able to get a good look at his new armor. Aside from his flashy Iron Patriot paint job, Rhodey hasn't been granted as many new suits as the person who actually builds them. But with even Spider-Man getting a new Tony Stark creation for Infinity War, it looks as if War Machine will be getting some upgrades.

MCU News and Tweets was sent a new piece of Avengers: Infinity War merchandise courtesy of a follower, and the t-shirt in question pulls together a number of the Guardians and Avengers (not to mention Thanos). But we also get a better look at Rhodey's new War Machine armor, as you can see below:

As you can see on the arms, '004' designates the fourth version of the War Machine armor. That means this isn't merely a stylized take on his costume but an actual upgrade from 003 in Captain America: Civil War. For the most part, it's still the standard bulky armor with a shoulder-mounted turret, but there are some new details and accents. There's also another weapon behind his right shoulder and some purple thrown in. Of course, that latter addition could just be to contrast with the gray shirt, as we see Black Widow in dark green version of her actual movie outfit.

In the end, Rhodey doesn't seem to desire as many fancy updates as Tony does. We've seen the new Iron Man armor in both promos and merchandise so far, but the contrast between the latest Stark tech and Rhodey's more evergreen style looks to be the most pronounced in Avengers 3. Hopefully, the forthcoming full length trailer for Avengers: Infinity War will feature more of War Machine in action, and also tease how Rhodey is coping since his injury.
