Newly released Avengers: Infinity War behind-the-scenes images reveal the filming of Spider-Man's death scene in the blockbuster. The 19th film installment in the MCU, Avengers 3 brought together almost all of the most important players in the franchise as Earth's Mightiest Heroes attempted to foil Thanos' plans of galactic genocide. The movie was a hit with both fans and critics, becoming only the fourth flick to earn more than $2 billion at the box office.

Marvel Studios had been building on the relationship between Tony and Peter after their initial interaction in Captain America: Civil War, which fans loved. Spider-Man: Homecoming further solidified their mentor/mentee dynamic enough that by the time Infinity War rolled around, people were understandably very affected seeing Peter turn into dust in Tony's arms. Peter clinging to his mentor, saying just how much he doesn't "want to go" made matters even sadder. Now, fans can relive that particular sequence thanks to some freshly released BTS pictures from the movie.

Coming from Twitter user woIvern is a collection of behind-the-scenes images taken during the filming of Spider-Man's death scene in Infinity War. The gallery features four photos, three of which were taken while the cameras were shooting the final moments of Peter's life, including his final exchange with Tony Stark before he turned into dust after Thanos snapped his fingers. Check out the pictures below:

It's known that Tom Holland improvised his heartbreaking death scene as he only learned the fate of Spider-Man just before they shot the sequence. Looking at these images, it's interesting that even during a filming break (as seen in the fourth photo in the gallery), the mood on set was noticeably somber. The gag reel for Infinity War revealed that despite working on heavy scenes, the actors would burst out laughing once the cameras stopped rolling, but in this particular one, both Robert Downey Jr. and Holland look focused and serious.

As it is, Holland's Peter Parker is dead in the MCU, but fans can expect that he'll be brought back to life one way or another in next year's still-untitled Avengers 4. Not much is known regarding plot details of the film considering where Infinity War left things for Earth's Mightiest Heroes, but leaked set photos coupled with comments from people behind the project lead fans to believe that time travel may be a pivotal factor in the narrative. With the help of the surviving supporting players plus Brie Larson's soon-to-debut Captain Marvel, and Ant-Man, the original six Avengers will do whatever they can to restore peace and order in the galaxy after Thanos' deadly snap.

While it's uncertain how big of a role Spider-Man (as well as other dead heroes waiting to be resurrected) has in Avengers 4, people can look forward to the return of the web-slinging hero on the big screen via his own solo film shortly after next year's Phase 3 capper. Spider-Man: Far From Home, the sequel to Homecoming, is already in production and will roll out nine weeks after Avengers 4 hit theaters, officially opening MCU's Phase 4.
