Doctor Strange Gets Taken Down In Infinity War Set Photos

Infinite Loop - Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange could be in some serious trouble in the latest Avengers: Infinity War set photos. Cumberbatch is one of the more recent additions to the Infinity War production, after joining Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, and several of his Avengers co-stars on set for the first time a few weeks ago. And in a film that features basically every prominent character in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe coming together onscreen for the first time, Cumberbatch's Strange is one of the most exciting to think about, thanks to both his character's immense power set and relatively new presence in the MCU.

While fans have already gotten to see Cumberbatch as Strange interact with one other Avenger briefly in a post-credits scene last year, Infinity War promises to let him share some screen time with several of them. The possibilities there are practically endless at this point too, especially since so little of Strange's role in the film's actual story has actually been revealed or confirmed up until this point. Based solely on some recent set videos from Avengers: Infinity War, though, it looks like Cumberbatch has already had a hand in his fair share of action sequences for the film.

It doesn't look like one particular scene in the film may end well for Doctor Strange either, with JustJared's latest batch of set photos from Avengers: Infinity War revealing a moment when Strange is seemingly tackled by a possibly unknown, CGI character, who has their eyes set on one very specific item in Strange's wardrobe. Now, make sure to take all of this with a grain of salt for the time being, since it's important to note that The Daily Mail is reporting the other person in these images to be none other than Paul Rudd. However, the man in the photos doesn't look very much like Rudd, and the initial reports have listed the other man as being a relatively unknown actor who will be doing a motion-capture performance in Infinity War. Based on the way that Cumberbatch and the other actor are posed in the photos as well, it seems like a more likely possibility that the mo-cap actor may have tackled or attacked Cumberbatch's Strange immediately prior to this scene.

In fact, with the way that the mo-cap character has his eyes and hands all directed towards the Eye of Agamotto on Strange's chest, it's entirely possible that this other character could be one of Thanos' (Josh Brolin) children, who have been sent down to Earth to retrieve the Infinity Stones for him. The possibility of The Black Order appearing in Avengers: Infinity War as Thanos' children has been rumored previously and assuming that they do, then that could explain the behavior of the mo-cap actor in these photos. Again, make sure to take this all with a grain of salt, but whether the actor in this photo is Rudd or an unknown, either way, it doesn't spell many easy times ahead for Stephen Strange when the Infinity War conflict finally arrives.
