Warning: This post contains SPOILERS for Avengers: Infinity War
An official image from Avengers: Infinity War highlights Captain Marvel's beeper from the post-credits tease. Marvel Studios brought together almost every hero at their disposal to try and stop Thanos from collecting all six Infinity Stones. Unfortunately for fans and those in the MCU, they could not succeed. Their failure resulted in the annihilation of half of the universe's population - including quite a few MCU heroes. Thankfully, it appears their best chance to come out on top is actually coming in Avengers 4.
As shown in the post-credits scene, Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders) are among those who lose their lives by Thanos' snap. Just before Fury completely disappears, he pulls a beeper out of his bag to ask for backup. Once the signal went through, the logo of Captain Marvel appeared signaling her importance for what comes next.
Art of VFX released a number of official stills from Avengers: Infinity War, including one of the post-credits scene. The image provides the best look at the MCU's tease that Carol Danvers could be the key to defeating Thanos, or Earth's final defense at the very least.
As if there was any doubt, this tease further shows that Captain Marvel coming out just two months before Avengers 4 isn't by accident. While her film is set in the 90s (leaving Carol's whereabouts for the last 30 years up for debate), she's going to return to prominence after this message is received. Just how big of a role Captain Marvel has in Avengers 4 remains to be seen, but with this shot tagged onto Infinity War, it is possible (if not incredibly likely) that Carol's perspective of these events or the direct aftermath is shown in her solo movie.
Possibly the most interesting piece of the beeper though is the colors of Captain Marvel's logo. Even though early concept art for the movie depicted Carol in her classic blue, red, and yellow suit, that hasn't been the case during production. Set photos from Captain Marvel have only shown Brie Larson in the Kree-version of the suit. She's even interacted with a two-eyed Fury in the same suit. At what point Carol gets the classic suit remains to be seen, but this is even more evidence that it will indeed happen.
Now that an official image has surfaced of the beeper, hopefully it won't be too long before an actual still from Captain Marvel is released. It will more than likely have to wait until after production is finished. Even then, it shouldn't be too long before Carol Danvers takes the spotlight and helps save the universe.
