Avengers: Infinity War has not only eclipsed it peers at the the box office, but has now surpassed Avengers: Age of Ultron in North America—after just 11 days. While it's no surprise that Avengers 3 has been a strong performer in theaters, the swiftness of its ascent up the charts has been staggering. The list of records Avengers: Infinity War has broken continues to grow, especially now that the movie is the fastest to ever reach $1 billion at the global box office.

While Avengers: Infinity War joins its predecessors, Black Panther and Iron Man 3 in Marvel Studios' $1B club, it's not stopping there. The latest tracking indicates Avengers 3 could gross $2 billion at the global box office when all is said and done. Black Panther already impressed earlier this year, and the goodwill for Marvel (and plenty of Wakanda) has helped make Avengers: Infinity War a runaway hit. At this point, Avengers 4 has a lot to live up to as the latest film in the franchise may end up being its most successful.

Gitesh Pandya from Box Office Guru is reporting that Avengers: Infinity War pulled in an additional $31.2 million at the global box office on Monday. That brings it to $1.199 billion globally, meaning the film will pass $1.2B today. The numbers also mean Avengers 3's domestic total of $461.4M pushes it past Avengers: Age of Ultron ($459M) at home. The movie's final worldwide haul was $1.4B, meanwhile, so this year's sequel only needs another $200M to be the second in the franchise.

The Avengers earned $623.35 domestically, so Avengers: Infinity War still has some ground to cover. But considering its only been in theaters 11 days in North America, there's still plenty of time and no competition until Deadpool 2 arrives on May 18. The $1.2B global total also means Avengers 3 is on the verge of overtaking the first film's $1.518B. In fact, with the movie debuting in China this Friday, Avengers 3 could become Marvel's highest-grossing film by the end of the weekend.

What we know about Avengers 4 so far means it stands a chance to outpace this year's movie. After all, it will feature a number of the same characters along with the likes of Ant-Man, the Wasp, Hawkeye, Valkyrie, and Captain Marvel. That paired with the promise of resolution regarding the Avengers who died will provide plenty of incentive for audiences to show up in droves for the finale of the MCU Phase 3.

Fans also seem thrilled with the story of Thanos in Avengers 3. While the Mad Titan finally rested at the end of the film, the fact that Thor didn't kill Thanos is going to come back to haunt the remaining Avengers. Not only is half of the universe wiped out, but it's clear that the war with Thanos is far from over. With a film promising to be even bigger than Avengers 3, we could see Avengers 4 become the highest-grossing film of all time. For now, however, the records are Avengers: Infinity War's to break.
