Avengers: Infinity War is destroying every advanced ticket sales record in its wake, including a unique one for AMC Theaters. Directed by Captain America directing duo Anthony and Joe Russo, and based on a script from longtime Marvel scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, Avengers 3 marks the beginning of the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first core saga, which has grown exponentially since Robert Downey Jr. took his first flight as Iron Man a decade ago.

Together, the Earth's Mightiest Heroes (along with several newcomers, such as Doctor Strange and Spider-Man) and the Guardians of the Galaxy will unite in a combined effort to prevent the Mad Titan Thanos (Josh Brolin) and his Black Order from obtaining all six Infinity Stones and attaching them to the all-powerful Infinity Gauntlet. Because if that happens, Thanos will wipe out half the universe with a snap of his fingers. It's a story arc that has been slowly building up in the MCU ever since Thanos first appeared in The Avengers' mid-credits scene. And now that it's finally about to unfold on the big screen, comic book and MCU fans can barely contain their excitement, which is evident by all the ticket pre-sales records the film is breaking.

AMC Theaters reveals that Avengers: Infinity War has surpassed every other superhero movie by amassing the most advanced tickets sold within its first 72 hours of release (this past weekend for Infinity War, since tickets went on sale on Friday). While AMC didn't provide exact numbers, they did say that Infinity War's advanced tickets sold within its first 72 hours were 257.6 percent higher than Black Panther, 715.5 percent higher than Captain America: Civil War, and 1106.5 percent higher than Avengers: Age of Ultron - all of which were determined by their first 72 hours of release as well.

It was all but guaranteed that Avengers: Infinity War would set new advanced ticket sales records since it's the biggest movie Marvel Studios has ever made - not just in terms of scope but size as well. Virtually every major character (that has already been introduced) from all corners of the MCU is set to appear in the movie. Plus, it finally pits the universe's titular heroes against one of the most iconic comic book villains in history, one whose full debut in the cinematic universe has been anticipated for several years. The fact is, there has never been a superhero movie like this before, and that's partly why it's already so successful.

Even though tickets only just went on sale, Avengers 3 already broke Fandango's pre-sale tickets record for superhero movies within its first six hours, a record that was previously held by Black Panther. And considering just how successful Black Panther was over its opening weekend, the sky's the limit for Avengers: Infinity War. So far, it's expected to have the MCU's best opening weekend with over $215 million - but that might be the low-end of the spectrum.
