Avengers: Infinity War was the climax of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the merging of all the stories the past 18 films had been trying to tell. Thanks in large part to the blending of all the unique characters on screen, not only does the movie have some of the franchise's best action but it also has some of it's best comedic moments too.

In the hands of the Russo Brothers, the action scenes are never confusing and the jokes never feel forced. If there was any film that perfectly showed Marvel's signature style of blending humor, heart, and character moments, it's Infinity War.

Action Sequence: Hulk Vs Thanos

Hulk vs Thanos

Infinity War has one of the direst openings of any MCU movie before it. Before the Marvel Studios logo disappears, we can already hear the damage caused by Thanos as an Asgardian survivor sends out a distress signal. The first shot is the Asgardian's ship left in ruins as Thanos and his Black Order stand amongst the dead bodies. After pretending to offer Thanos the Tesseract, Loki signals to Hulk to try and stop the Mad Titan. However, Hulk wasn't prepared for an opponent like Thanos that could match him in strength and best him in skill which ends with Hulk being defeated before being sent to Earth by Heimdall.

Gag: Thor's Nicknames

Thor, Rocket, and Teen Groot in a spaceship in Avengers: Infinity War

After his ship is destroyed by Thanos and he's left to drift in space, Thor is rescued by the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Rather than taking the time to actually learn their names, he immediately starts referring to Groot as "Tree" and calling Rocket him "Rabbit", a nickname that continued over into Avengers: Endgame and is certainly an upgrade from "trash Panda" which is what Starlord called him in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Action Sequence: Secret Avengers Vs. The Black Order

Scarlet Witch Vision Infinity War

While enjoying a walk in Scotland, Vision and Wanda are ambushed by two members of Thanos' Black Order, Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive, who came to try and retrieve the mind stone from Vision. After Glaive tries to rip the stone out of Vision head, Wanda struggles to fight them off before she is rescued by Black Widow, Captain America, and Falcon who help her take down the two aliens. Unfortunately, the attack on Vision left him severely damaged and weakened him for the rest of the movie.

Gag: Hulk's Performance Issues

Anyone that's been following Hulk's arc knows that Bruce Banner and his alter ego don't always see eye to eye and that was perfectly illustrated in this film in a humorous way. After the opening scene, Hulk did not fully show up again and only emerged briefly to tell Bruce that he was refusing to come out.

The most hilarious instance came when the team was gearing up to fight Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian leading to Tony saying, "Dude, you're embarrassing me in front of the wizards".

Action Sequence: The Battle Of Wakanda

The Avengers standing in Wakanda waiting for Thanos' army to attack

Since Wakanda is one of the most fortified places on Earth as well as home to one of the planet's smartest minds, the Avengers had traveled there with Vision to see if they could have Shuri remove the stone from his head. While she tried to save what was left with him, the Wakandan army and the rest of the team went to the border with Black Panther and Captain America leading the charge against the Black Order and their army of Outriders. The Avengers started to lose the upper hand they had at the start but after Thor's iconic entrance with Rocket and Groot, the fight once would turn again in their favor. Wakanda would also be where  Thanos would snap his fingers and eliminate half of the universe's population after obtaining all 6 Infinity Stones.

Gag: Bucky And Rocket

Bucky and Rocket talk in Avengers Infinity War

Rocket's obsession with prosthetic body parts, primarily limbs, was something that was first introduced in the first Guardians movie when he stole another prisoner's leg for no real reason. One of the most hilarious moments comes during the Wakanda battle when, after being picked up by and fighting alongside Bucky, Rocket asks him how much money he wanted for the gun and then when Bucky makes it clear the weapon isn't for sale, he asks him "How much for the arm?". Bucky ignores the second offer and walks away but as he does, Rocket whispers to himself that he was going to get the arm.

Action Sequence: Attack On Greenwich Village

While Strange, Wong, Banner, and Tony were in the Sanctum Sanctorum trying to decide the best course of action to deal with Thanos, they start to notice commotion outside. When they leave the Sanctum, they notice an enormous spaceship hovering above the city with citizens running away from Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian who was standing there waiting to retrieve the time stone. The two sides would face off in a fight that would start in Greenwich Village and move to Washington Square Park. Spider-Man would later join the fight after jumping out of his school bus window due to him seeing the alien ship floating above the city and the trio would then board the ship and head off into space.

Gag: "Why Is Gamora?"

When Strange, Tony, and Peter first arrived on Titan, they were greeted by Mantis, Drax, and Starlord who wrongfully assume that they're working for Thanos. All of them immediately turn their weapons on each other and Starlord asks "Where is Gamora?". Confused, Tony quickly snaps back asking "Who is Gamora?" which is followed by Drax, obviously wanting to be included, uttering one of the funniest lines and shouting "Why is Gamora?" What makes the moment even funnier is that the line was apparently improvised by Dave Bautista on set.

Action Sequence: The Battle Of Titan

Avengers Infinity War Thanos Iron Man Titan

The Battle on Titan arguably has the best choreography of all the film's fights and truly serves as the main event of the movie. It features Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Guardians members Drax, Nebula, Starlord, and Mantis fighting against Thanos on his former home planet. What makes it especially great is seeing each individual hero using their powers together. Although they ultimately fail and Thanos manages to get the time stone from Strange before heading to Earth, things like Spider-Man swinging through Doctor Strange's portal and Mantis putting him to sleep make it worth it.

Gag: Starlord Copying Thor

Star-Lord jealously watches as Thor talks to Gamora

When the Guardians first rescue Thor, he's basically half-dead and before Mantis uses her powers to wake him up, the team gathers around to examine him which leads to them admiring Thor's physique and comparing him to Peter. After Thor is woken up, Starlord, who is clearly intimidated by the God of Thunder attempts to deepen his voice to match Thor's and ultimately begins copying him word for word when Thor questions what he's doing.
