A game retailer in the UK has allegedly leaked when Spider-Man will appear in Marvel's Avengers, with an email confirming that the character is set to launch in March 2021. The web-slinging hero will be a PlayStation exclusive character in the upcoming action-adventure game, mirroring the fact that Marvel's Spider-Man is also exclusive to the PlayStation 4.

Sony first revealed that Spider-Man was coming to Marvel's Avengers in June, to a large amount of uproar from players on other platforms. The character is set to be the only platform-exclusive DLC character in the game after it launches, meaning that PC and Xbox players won't get anything in return. Despite the controversy, Sony has continued to take advantage of the exclusivity deal, marketing the fact that the PlayStation is the only platform that has the complete version of the title.

UK retailer GAME may have just revealed when Spider-Man will arrive for the upcoming Marvel's Avengers. Reddit user Judewhite1 posted a message to the online forum, showing an alleged email from the store that claims the superhero will be available from March next year. The email specifically states that "PlayStation is the only place to play as Spider-Man when he wrings in Marvel's Avengers next March." Unfortunately, the email does not give out a specific release date but this is the first time that players have had any indication when the PlayStation exclusive character will appear. Of course, with no official confirmation from Square Enix or Crystal Dynamics, it is impossible to know whether the leak is accurate.

Players are currently able to play Marvel's Avengers though an online beta that is taking place in the weeks running up to its launch on September 4. In another snub to players on other platforms, those who pre-ordered the game for PlayStation 4 have been able to access it first. Unfortunately, the beta has suffered from a variety of technical issues that include lost connections, server overload, and an ability to download the beta files. The developer has promised that these issues should be fixed as soon as possible.

Leaks like these should always be taken with a pinch of salt. Retailers often get important dates like this wrong but it seems likely that the information is correct. The fact that Spider-Man would appear in the game was first revealed by a different retailer after all. Spider-Man's inclusion in Marvel's Avengers has proven to be incredibly controversial. Fans who play on platforms other than the PlayStation are rightfully upset that they will not get to experience the full cast of characters or all the content that is being released.
