Right up until she saw the movie, Yvette Nicole Brown had no idea she was in Avengers: Endgame. It's a bit strange to think of now, but at this time almost two years ago, the world was waiting with breathless anticipation for Avengers: Endgame. The MCU's biggest installment to date served as the culminating moment in the Infinity Saga, which had been in play since the franchise began in 2008. In the film, all six of the main Avengers, along with some surviving allies, banded together to reverse the devastating effects of Thanos' (Josh Brolin) snap from Avengers: Infinity War.

Much like Infinity War and two previous Captain America movies, Avengers: Endgame was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. Their four total MCU movies cemented them as the franchise's go-to directors for its major team-up projects. However, prior to boarding the Marvel universe, the Russos were better known for their television work on shows like Arrested Development and CommunityWhen it came to the latter, the Russos proved they never forgot their roots by bringing in several Community alums for cameos in their MCU projects.

One such cameo belonged to Yvette Nicole Brown, who played Shirley Bennett on Community. In Avengers: Endgame, Brown played a SHIELD employee in the 1970s who spots an undercover Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). While speaking to ComicBook.com about her new Disney+ series Big Shot, Brown revealed she didn't realize she was actually in Endgame until she watched the movie. When filming her cameo, she believed it was for Infinity War:

"You know, I still pinch myself. And it's funny, I was... The news of me being in it, it was a cameo, so I wasn't supposed to tell anyone. So, I sat on that secret for two years. We shot it in 2017, and it didn't come out until 2019. And it had taken so long, they were shooting Infinity War and Endgame at the same time. And so, I shot while everyone knew that Infinity War was being shot, so I thought I was in Infinity War. So, when Infinity War came out and I wasn't in it, I was like, 'Well, you know, it was a great experience. I got to work with Chris and Robert. And, you know, it didn't work out, it's fine.' So, I went to the premiere of Endgame with my group of friends, my blerd bunch group, and we see the elevator and I'm like, 'I'm in this!' And next thing you know, there is my face, I was as shocked as everybody else. We all screamed. Chris Evans is now my Twitter boyfriend, life is good. Life is good."

Marvel is notorious for keeping their actors in the dark, to the point where when it came to Infinity War and Endgame, many cast members couldn't say whether they were in one or the other. Brown's confusion is understandable, especially since she had a quick cameo. It must've been a wonderful moment for her and her friends to realize she was in fact in Avengers: Endgame. Plus, audiences were just as excited to see her.

The Russo brothers' time in the MCU currently appears to be over, though the franchise is moving beyond the Infinity Saga with Phase 4. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it has now been almost two years since the last MCU film hit theaters, but that drought promises to end in July with Black Widow. It remains to be seen if more Community cast members could make the jump to the MCU, but if that trend has to end with the Russos, at least Brown got her cameo in Avengers: Endgame, the biggest movie in the franchise yet.
