It's time to relive one of the most iconic Avengers: Endgame moments in 4K: Captain America wielding Thor's hammer Mjolnir. Since its release in April, the film has been breaking box office records left and right. A few days ago, Avengers: Endgame surpassed Avatar as the top-grossing movie of all time.
Avengers: Endgame might just be the most ambitious movie ever made. It had the task of completing an 11-year journey spanning 21 movies, from Iron Man to Captain Marvel. Somehow, the Russo brothers were able to accomplish all they set out to do. The character journeys of Steve Rogers and Tony Stark were complete, and it set up future stories in the universe while also feeling like a final chapter. It was emotional, fun, and epic all rolled up into a three-hour package. With Avengers: Endgame arriving digitally next week, fans everywhere can witness perhaps the most memorable scene from the movie online in 4K.
One of the biggest turning points in Avengers: Endgame was when Captain America wielded Thor's hammer, and now viewers can see it again (via Furious Trailer) in 4K. Check out the video below. It also includes the famous "Assemble" sequence as well.
One cannot deny the effectiveness and timing of the scene. Thor is about to be stabbed with his own Stormbreaker axe by Thanos, but then Mjolnir is seen being lifted. Many theaters across the world became a sports arena when it was shown who wielded the hammer. One of the biggest money shots of the film is when Captain America summons Mjolnir. Prior to this, no mortal was able to wield Thor's hammer. The fact that Captain America was able to shows he truly was the greatest Avenger of them all.
Although the MCU Phase 4 has a number of movie release dates coming up, it will likely be a very long time before a moment such as Captain America wielding Mjolnir is seen. Steve's overall character arc proved to be one of the most engaging throughout the movies. In 1942, he became America's Super Soldier. In 2023, he wielded a god's hammer and led an army against an invading force capable of destroying the world. It's a tough debate if Captain America wielding Mjolnir is more iconic than Iron Man's death. Both are scenes fans are still discussing today, and probably will for years to come. Either way, these scenes show that Avengers: Endgame will go down as the biggest blockbuster ever released.
