In what's truly a work of mad genius, a fan recreated the most recent Avengers: Endgame trailer using clips from Spongebob Squarepants. Ever since Avengers: Infinity War arrived last spring to rock the world of Marvel fans everywhere, said fans have been waiting impatiently for their chance to find out what happens next. Unfortunately, Marvel Studios has seen fit to go into almost complete lockdown on the topic, revealing almost nothing of consequence about the Phase 3 capper's overall plot arc.

Then again, as eager as fans are to witness the (hopeful) defeat of intergalactic villain Thanos at the hands of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, nobody really wants the film's major points spoiled for them in advance. Avengers: Endgame looks poised to be a movie event to potentially eclipse all prior movie events, and with that in mind, it's probably for the best that Marvel Studios has been so secretive about the film. Even the two trailers released so far have really told fans very little.

Speaking of those trailers, while they've neglected to reveal much, what they have been good at is stoking the anticipatory fire of fans. The trailers are full of somber mood and a post-apocalyptic tone, which is appropriate, as The Decimation might as well be the end of the world where those left behind are concerned. However, those who might want to inject a little humor into their Avengers: Endgame experience should eagerly check out Ryan Dopp's fan trailer below, which recreates the second trailer for the fourth Avengers outing using nothing but Spongebob Squarepants clips, right down to Bikini Bottom's residents turning to dust. Check it out below.

Well, that's something, isn't it? One wonders what inspired Mr. Dopp to create the above fan trailer, but it's certainly an interesting way to spend two and a half minutes. Also, now that the idea of David Hasselhoff joining the Avengers has been broached, one can't deny it's an intriguing prospect. Perhaps Hasselhoff could be Marvel Studios' equivalent of Aquaman. All kidding aside, watching Spongebob's pet Gary vanish is surprisingly heartbreaking.

Now that the above hilarious diversion is over, fans can resume anticipating Avengers: Endgame, which is now just a little over a month away. How many of Infinity War's casualties will be resurrected? Will time travel be involved? Just how much will Captain Marvel kick Thanos' ass? How did Ant-Man even get out of the Quantum Realm? All these questions and more will be answered next month. Then, it's onto the MCU's mysterious Phase 4, kicking off with July's Spider-Man: Far From Home.
