The Merc With a Mouth finally crosses over with the MCU in a new fan-edited trailer that replaces every character in Avengers: Endgame with Deadpool. The first trailer for the fourth, and possibly final, Avengers film arrived earlier this month and fans can't stop dissecting the clip in search of precious clues about how the universe's remaining heroes mean to take down the all-powerful Mad Titan Thanos.
Naturally, the tone of the new trailer is rather somber, after the horrific events that took place in Avengers: Infinity War. In the clip, Tony Stark is stranded in space, apparently without hope of rescue, while back on earth the other surviving Avengers - plus Rocket Raccoon - are just trying to pick up the pieces after the snap. In a surprise reveal at the trailer's end, Ant-Man shows up after apparently escaping from the Quantum Realm, where he was left marooned after Ant-Man and the Wasp.
As dramatic as the trailer is, there isn't much room for that famous MCU levity. But luckily fan artist Mightyraccoon! is here to remedy that lack of humor with a little help from Deadpool. In fact, Mightyraccoon! has gone ahead and replaced every character in Endgame with Deadpool - even Black Widow. The result is, of course, much more hilarious than the original trailer. See the full clip below:
Mightyraccoon! doesn't just use visual effects wizardry to insert Deadpool into the trailer, he also provides voiceover with a dead-on impersonation of Ryan Reynolds. The clip opens with Deadpool stranded in outer space, carrying on a conversation with a mask while his food, water and oxygen slowly run out. Meanwhile back on earth, Deadpool is trying to carry on after "purple Homer Simpson" wiped out half the life in the universe with a snap of his fingers. At times, the insertion of Deadpool in every shot leads to rather disturbing results, as when he's seen sporting Black Widow's hair.
In another hilarious moment, Deadpool pops open his locket a la Captain America and reveals the only character besides Deadpool who apparently exists in this all-Deadpool universe. Of course, it's Deadpool's old nemesis Logan aka Wolverine. So not only does Mightyraccoon!'s trailer finally allow Deadpool to cross over with the MCU, it also sets up the Deadpool/Wolverine team-up movie Reynolds has been wishing for. For one last zinger, Deadpool reaches his arm out and partially obscures the movie's logo, a nod to all the hype over the Avengers: Endgame title reveal. Unfortunately, at least for now, it seems trailers like this are as close as fans will ever get to finding out what would happen if Deadpool brought his particular brand of wisecracking, profane humor to The Avengers.
